Unbelievable CD, August 25, 2011

We all are acquainted with this piece of musical joke by Saint-Saens, but not all of us have heard this rendition. Maestro Rozhdestvensky knows how to turn into gold everything he touches. So is the case with the 'Carnival' - the best performance I have heard in over fifty years of collecting recorded music. And Rozhdestvensky's reading is no joke, but pure fine art. Inspired by this modest CD I even wrote a letter of admiration to the maestro. I was rewarded with a personal dedication on a photo of his. It all happened due to the artistic power of this 'little musical joke'. A highly recommended disc. Enjoy this wonderful music!
