5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bye Diets, Hello Bon-Vive!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: The Saint-Tropez Diet: The Delicious and Healthy Weight Loss Plan Presenting the Best Scientific Principles of the French and Mediterranean Omega-3 Diets (Hardcover)
I hate diets. I always did. Its the notion that you have to restrict yourself for 30,60, or 90 days to achieve SPECTACULAR results for the beach, or for the new date, or for your doctor who screams for your cholesterol levels. Diets DONT WORK, as by definition after the restriction timeline is gone, you go back to your good, old habits ("I deserve this candy bar, I ve been on diet for 90 days!"). Yes, I have read and been on Atkins, South Beach, North Pole, West Texas and all the other diets, returning always to...my diet!

And here is Dr Papas with a WHOLE NEW CONCEPT: change your life. Live longer. Respect your body. Take a breadth and smell the spinach, the fish, the carrots you are about to eat! Introduce respect for your food as it ultimately becomes you. Its a whole new attitude for our busy life, which today is fed by dispensed, plastic snacks and trans-fatty cookies. And Dr Papas goes even further, suggesting its good to eat Fats! Fats? Yes, I learned something here: there are bad fats and good, oily fats. And figure this one out: the more of these wonder omega-3 fats you eat, the better you function and look, and the less you weigh! Ha!

I loved reading this book. It is very personal, like a life story: it is like Dr Papas invites you for a personal chat, talking to you about his food science and his personal experiences alongside the Mediterranee. And gradually he is revealing why people in France eat better, live longer and look slimmer. Its all about the fresh food, the fish, the salads, the wine and ...the chocolate! (now, hey y'all, Vive La France!)

Dont be fooled by the title: This is not a 90-day recipe for looking better at the lovely resort of St Tropez. This is a warm, easy introduction to a different quality of life we all deserve and should consider for the rest of our lives.

Thank you Dr Papas!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a Gem., June 26, 2007
This review is from: The Saint-Tropez Diet: The Delicious and Healthy Weight Loss Plan Presenting the Best Scientific Principles of the French and Mediterranean Omega-3 Diets (Hardcover)
The Saint-Tropez is an excellent diet book, or better yet, a way of life.
It's very easy to follow, once you read the book.
The recipes are out of this world! Who thought of cooking spinach with pine nuts and raisins ? There are no rare ingredients, everything is at your grocery store.
This diet combines two nutrients in every meal, omega-3 and foods rich in beta carotene.
Some of the recipes have two parts like "Marinated grilled vegetables", The marinade part for this recipe could be used also as a salad dressing.
Also the recipes are not complicated, they are simple, but different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invest in your future!, February 20, 2007
By
This review is from: The Saint-Tropez Diet: The Delicious and Healthy Weight Loss Plan Presenting the Best Scientific Principles of the French and Mediterranean Omega-3 Diets (Hardcover)
This book provides a clear road map on how to eat balanced diets and maintain/acquire a trim waistline without depriving yourself of anything. You will learn why all of nature's products are good for you in moderation. We need fat (the right kind of fat) combined with foods rich in antioxidants. Many of the food stuffs that have been purported as sinful in this country; Dr. Pappas blesses in moderation (rich cheese, whole milk, wine, chocolate).

The author ingeniously explains why proper, balanced nutrition is mandatory. It's told in a way that you'll never want to eat "unhealthy food" again.

I have achieved super charged energy levels since following this diet, I am losing weight weekly and I've never felt better.

Share this wonderful book with your family. The recipes and the diet (healthy lifestyle) principles should be enjoyed by everyone.

I loved this book. Surprised to not really hear much about it. I found it one day while playing on Amazon and reading reviews. After I read the reviews I immediately bought the book. It is an easy read. Simple and to the point. I have been trying the simple recipies day to day for the past two weeks and love most every one of them. I feel like a gourmet chef but it is so easy. My kids are still a little stand offish about trying radically new stuff but I know in time they will get more and more used to it. I love having a glass of wine now and then and I do find that I simply enjoy the taste and freshness of the food. I highly recommed. We should all shake up our diets and make them tastier and healthier.

I've been searching for years for a diet that fits my busy lifestyle and that doesn't punish you. This is it. Delicious recipes and good portions. Getting the right balance of fatty acids is what helps you lose weight. I won't be embarrassed at the beach this summer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Falling in love with food and losing weight!, January 20, 2007
This review is from: The Saint-Tropez Diet: The Delicious and Healthy Weight Loss Plan Presenting the Best Scientific Principles of the French and Mediterranean Omega-3 Diets (Hardcover)
The science is compelling and brings the best in nutritional research together in one place. And then the Saint Tropez Diet helps you fall in love with food. Unlike just about every other diet out there, this easy to read and easy to digest diet book manages to combine state of the art nutritional science with the art and pleasure of food. This is the first diet I've seen that may easily "seduce" you into sticking with it as a lifestyle once you've reached your health and weight goals. As a former Atkins lover, I finally succumbed to terminal boredom. But I think if Dr. Atkins had written a French cookbook, this would have been it.

I liked this book so much that I purchased extras as gifts for my health-concious foody friends.

The overall philosophy is sound and not extreme, and the recipes I've tried so far are delicious.
