A very pleasant book for younger Francophiles!, February 22, 2001
This is the revised Segond edition, which uses everyday French words (differing from the 1910 Edition which somtimes uses an old-fashioned vocabulary). In my opinion, the Segond revised language is the most understandable French translation of the Bible. And this book is a great scripural support for prayer and devotional! This book has a compact size which makes it ideal to take along to church, to a day trip or to a quiet prayer place. The downside of its size is that the font is relatively small. Therefore a book of this size is more recommended to younger generations who have a sharp and distinct view. Can also be an ideal gift for a baptism.

The Bible for the French Student, June 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: LA Sainte Bible: Segond (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful edition for the non-native French speaker. It reads very easily, much like the NIV English version, with modern grammer and word choice. However, its treatment of God's gender is a little disconcerting for the English speaker. For example, John 1:1 uses the less common French word "la parole" instead of the common "le mot." Consequently, God is referred to throughout the passage with the feminine article. This aside, it is a wonderful edition with helpful maps, tables, glossaries and cross-references. As a side note, the book is not hardcover, as advertised, but vinyl.
