Product Description

Square Enix Saints Row IV D1068 PC Games

From the Manufacturer

Game Overview

Following their involvement in [REDACTED TO PREVENT SPOILERS], the Saints were once again thrust into the lime light: only, this time they weren't viewed as dangerous criminals but heralded as patriots. Riding their wave of popularity, The Leader of the Saints decided to run for the highest office…and won. Now the President of the United States, the boss has gone from the crack house, to the penthouse, to the White House.

But all is not well. Despite eliminating the deficit, ending world hunger, and successfully lobbying to have pole dancing added as an Olympic sport…something dark is looming: The arrival of the Zin Empire.

Lead by the erudite and egomaniacal Zinyak, the Zin brazenly attack Washington D.C., abducting the President and his entire cabinet. Their goal was to imprison the captives in a virtual prison to break down their will…but they never realized that the individuals they brought onto their ship weren't fat-cat politicians: They were the most dangerous men and women on the planet.

Key Features

  • The American (Fever) Dream – Play as the President of the United States in a story that spans countries, space, and time. Saints Row IV is to Saints Row: The Third what Saints Row: The Third is to Do The Right Thing. You're not ready.

  • Alien Toys of Destruction – Wield an impressive array of alien vehicles and weapons...FOR SCIENCE!
  • Custom Weapons, Custom Mayhem – You've customized your character. You've customized your clothes. Now you can complete the look with our all new weapon customization system. Turn traditional weapons into exotic conversation pieces!

Let me start with this, this game is not, nor is it intended to now or ever, to be compared with GTAV. This game stands on it's own as a series and franchise. And here is what this game is, in my opinion. Stress Relief in an interactive form mixed with situations so over the top you will think you are living in an Internet Meme. It makes fun of everything from politics to itself as a creation. It mixes cliche moments with moments of greatness. It is a walking fart joke and youtube prank video. It is mature immaturity wrapped in a bacon deluxe carnage bun with a side of thick cut explosions, all washed down with cold refreshing middle finger to everybody. All of this, while still making the characters memorable, loveable, and laughable to each individual. Everything is over the top, but done in a way that channels the insanity into expectation, making it something that just "works." in this series. From designing your own characters genitalia, to seeing Genki show up at random and launch people from a cannon, to being attacked by a giant energy drink, to *SPOILER* disarming a NUKE mid flight, saving the nation, and taking over the Presidency less than 5 minutes into the game.

If you are looking for a stupid amount of fun, appreciate toilet humor on a scale that makes it humorous, and otherwise embracing what this game is and how it, kinda sadly, reflects the current generational social media fueled gamign culture, you will find an incredible value here. Not just in monetary worth on your hard money spent, but in water cooler moments with your friends, but in the knowledge that no matter how bad your day is, you can hop into Steelport and wash it all away. Great Game, Great Fun, 3rd Street Represent!

After playing Saints Row 2 and Saints Row The Third, this is definitely the most fun I've had playing a Saints Row game. Games are about having fun.

-The super powers are some of the most fun things in video games to date. Also very responsive and easy to use.
-Excellent voice work, as always
-Extremely funny dialog and mission structure
-Vast customization options for characters, guns and vehicles
-Very fun and imaginative weapons

-The activities become a little tedious after a while
-You have to visit the Ship (+loading screen) and talk to someone before and after every mission
-Bland color pallet (blue night with red everything) *Edit* this can be changed after beating the game

-The graphics are identical to SR3, this may bother some
-A lot of story elements can only be understood if you've played SR2
-Vehicles are virtually useless, because you can now sprint faster than them

Overall, the game is well worth it if you enjoyed the craziness of Saints Row The Third. On the contrary, if you liked the more serious SR1 or SR2 and hated SR3, you probably won't like this game either, because it is only crazier.

I have now completed the game and most side activities, collectibles, etc (95%). I pre-purchased the game on Steam since they gave a 10% discount to Saints Row 3 owners, so that's why this is not "Amazon Verified." First off, I want to address some issues I noticed in other reviews.

1. I personally did NOT experience a single crash or slow down (ran a steady 60+ FPS according to EVGA Precision) in over 30 hours of game play. My PC specs are below:
Windows 8 64-bit
Intel i7 3.4GHz 3770 processor
12GB DDR3 (never showed more than 3.2GB usage)
EVGA GTX 670 FTW @ 1,201MHz (This was almost constantly pushed to MAX OC)
2TB 7200RPM Hard Drive

2. I did NOT find it necessary to use cheats to complete any part of the main story or anything else I have done so far... I actually found the game maybe a little too easy on my first play through on normal difficulty (or whatever the default was...)

3. This is almost identical to the Steelport city they used in Saints Row 3. There are only minor changes, the engine appears to have a slight graphical update, there are new alien elements to the world.

4. Seeing that I've got at least 30 hours of new game play out of this, I definitely disagree that this should have been a DLC despite being based in the same city. It's a completely new story, with new collectibles, side missions, activities, etc.

5. They brought old Shaundi back!!!! Although, I realize many might not be as big of a fan as me.

If you liked the humor, craziness, and plain all out over the top story of Saints Row 3 and previous Saints Row games you will probably like this game. It is based in the same city, but there is really much more new content than any DLC I've seen for any other game.

I wasn't sure of what to make of Saints Row 4 at first. My initial impression was that it was kind of weird... maybe a bit too silly... maybe just too different than Saints Row 3.

Then I played it... and played it some more... and then some more...

And then I came to a point when the utter brilliance of this game shown in all of its glory... the minute I put on the power armor and heard "The Touch" play. It was at that moment... that brief shining moment when I put on the power armor and heard The Touch... that Saints Row 4 opened a wormhole into my soul.

However, I do have some minor gripes with the game. I thought that Saints Row 3 had more to offer in terms of cribs with stripper poles and such. I did not like the pixilation effect, so I just downloaded a mod and got rid of it. I also didn't like the fact that the nude body of my avatar was pixilated, so I downloaded a mod to fix that as well. I was like Whoa! That sure made a difference. I says to my wife - I says lookatthis lookatthis lookatthis!!!!! What? she says. Lookatthis lookatthis lookatthis!!!! I says. Hahahahaahahaahahahaah!!!! I got "the look" but it was worth every bit of it. I may even have gotten a "seriously..." but I don't recall for sure. I was mesmerized by my awesome nakedness. After that, I played about 75% of the game totally nude. Female of course. If I wanted to look at sausage I'd buy a pack of Johnsonvilles.

Besides, super powers all look better in the nude. You tell me - what's better... gliding with a suit on or gliding across the city nude? Sprinting in a gimp suit or sprinting nude? Heck, isn't everything better nude?
