Synopsis

Rejoin the ranks of the most unholy Saints around as you return to the Row to experience gang life, post-fame. Kids are kicking around in Saints sneakers, tough-guy hopefuls are slurping Saints energy drinks and storeowners are proudly displaying Johnny Gat bobble heads on their top shelves. Celebrity status has hit — but will the Saints survive their newfound glory unscathed?

In Saints Row: The Third, fame and fortune come at a bittersweet price for the kings of Stilwater. Faced with serious demands from the legendary criminal fraternity, the Syndicate, the Saints must hit the streets of Steelport to trample their new rivals — and defend their status. Get ready for intense action, grueling gang violence and outlandish situations to spare as you take on a decaying city of sin in an all-new battle with the Saints. Buckle up and take a massive tank on a wild ride — through the sky. Duke it out against trained military forces and call in a strategic airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang. With grit and guts galore, you and your gang will never kneel to an enemy. After all, just because you're a Saint doesn't mean you have to behave.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the Saints, but... November 18, 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Okay, don't get me wrong. Speaking as someone who is 100% behind the Saints all the way, I was very disappointed by The Third.

For one thing, notice how they hyped up customization? Customize cribs, clothes, cars, "you can make a blue guy with a zombie voice", everything. Well, the developers actually REMOVED some of the customization features.

1) You CANNOT customize your crib. Once you enter a crib's building, you press a context button labeled "access crib" and it opens the wardrobe, weapons, garage, etc menu. This can be annoying, seeing as how opening a door is also a context button, leading to accidental opening of the menu if you are not standing completely against the door. This might be a nitpick, but it is still slightly aggravating.

2) Players who played previous SR games will remember how you could completely customize an outfit - have a hat tilted in specific directions, choice to tuck shirts in or out, layer clothes, etc, etc. That's gone- they give basic underwear, one top (shirt OR jacket) and one bottom, but multiple options for accessories like jewelry and piercings. The game gives you several outfits that are essentially the same. Seriously, they give you the same button down shirt at least 3 different times under different names. It's very similar to the sims 2 (without player created content) versus the sims 2 console as far as player customization. Also, when picking colors for things, some sections of the clothes apparently have a dark overlay on the textures because the color is mostly black or distorted. These are usually on small sections of the clothing or underwear, though.

3) I really don't mean to offend anyone by this statement but it needs to be said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time for some insurance fraud! November 15, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Saints Row The Third is great fun. Something GTAIV was missing for me. It's got a better engine this time, and the game runs pretty smooth unlike Saints Row 2 which got pretty choppy at some parts. Graphics have a major overhaul. Character creation is some of the best I've ever seen. Controls are also tighter and driving is better. I picked up Saints Row The Third at Midnight and played it for nearly 6 hours straight. Story based missions are awesome. All and all I would recomind this for anyone who likes a open world game and likes a lot of varied side-missions.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT GTA April 30, 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Saints Row 3 is a goofier, less refined version of Grant Theft Auto 4. The developers were obviously working with a much smaller budget. Still, this is no low budget game. There is plenty of detail and depth to this thing.

If you want more realism, GTA IV is still the better game. One example: GTA has better physics, more accurate and realistic car damage. The action overall is also smoother in GTA. But if you want to create your own character from scratch, fly jets, use people as human shields, shoot people out of cannons, dance in the middle of the street, taunt people, jump off buildings and avoid splattering on the concrete by deploying your parachute, fight 10 foot giants....... then this may be your game.

I really like SR3 but after a few hours of playing, I started to miss the refinement of GTA IV. The action in SR3 is sometimes very choppy. On a side note, I ran into a character that looked like a guy in a pink cat costume with a big head who seems to be invincible. I tried everything to kill him but he just kept getting back up. Does anyone know what that's all about?

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game! Few Minor Flaws Though... December 12, 2011
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3| Edition:Standard Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Saints Row: The Third is one of the most fun games I have ever played. It's new and improved graphics and driving system are just some of the things that will have you gawking at the game. With that being said however, no game is perfect. The same applies to this game.

First I am going to point out the bad. Some of the customization features such as crib customization and choosing how you wear your clothes (e.g tucked, untucked) have been removed. This doesn't really annoy me that much but I don't see any reason for it to go. There also some minor glitches that you will find, none of which take away from the actual game experience. Eventually it gets a little boring when you've done everything which is why there is co-op. I'm also annoyed by the fact that they are charging money for certain cheats labeling them as "downloadable content." It also feels like there is little variety in stores. However, my biggest complaint is the game engine itself. People disappear after they get 30 feet away from you which makes sniping really annoying. It was one of the problems from the Saints Row II that they just didn't fix which kind of makes me mad.

Now, to the good stuff. First of all, this game is just plain fun. It's a blast to play with plenty of story and side missions. Some of my personal favorites include Proffesor Genki's S.E.R.C and Tank Mayhem. The story is not like Metal Gear Solid or anything but is fun with plenty of humor. It also has some pretty difficult decisions you have to make. I used to think the soundtrack was bad... until I actually started listening to it. This game also, just as advertised, is completely over the top and ridiculous.

This game looks to me like it's got really fun gameplay, so I will be getting it. I didn't like gta too much because it tried to be too serious and all I wanted to do was mess around lol.
