It was a good gift,

When my father told me about he bought a new joystick for me I was wondering a Force feedback II or PRO... but it was a saytek cyborg evo..I got a little dissapointed because i wanted one of the Microsoft joysticks but when i started testing the joy in order to know if it was good or bad my first thougt was "this thing is great" it is comfortable it has enough buttons to configure almost all important functions that u use in a game like Combat flight simulator 1 2 or 3 or other combat sims the twist gives u a total control of the rudder (very important thing in this kind of games) I dont have any problems with the joy...I read some opinions here about some ppl saying that with this joystick there is a bug that make the planes go to the left I think that it is not a bug, anytime that u take off with any joystick if u r playing a realistic sim ur plane will go to the left because the propellors, This also occurs on real planes u need to move the rudder to the right in order to correct this in the take of... in few words im happy with this joystick, the only thing that I think could make this joystick better is Feedback or rumble.. I dont know exactly the expression in english but the thing that give u the sensation of holes in the runaway and turbulence in the air. Sorry about my english ppl but is not my mother language.

I found this joystick to be about average...The cons--- The spring loaded centering doesn't always seem to react the way you need it too.... when flying simulators precision and feedback are everything--- especially when flying against live players. The joystick has tons of easily accessible buttons, which is great, and the refinement of the buttons is phenominal and comfortable, feels wonderful... and is a bit "exciting" to say the least. The throttle in the middle is downright annoying and you have to "cross" your hands just to use it, when in the fully throttle position, you tend to move the throttle with your joystick hand when pulling back on the stick... annoying. With a little getting used to though, I got the feel for this stick and it works great.... BUT.... Don't let this hold you back though, both are fantastic, but you will never know the difference by going to best buy and playing around, you need to play YOUR game with them, sorry to say it.

I have had this joystick for a year now, and use it several times a week for playing BF1942 and MS Combat Flight Simulator. It's crisp and provides great control when flying all types of aircraft, the thumb button panel is adjustable in two axes for optimal positioning, and I love that the grip is good for both left-handed and right-handed people (I'm left-handed, and can't use most right-handed Microsoft products like their Joysticks and mice).
I liked it so much I bought a second one for my son who is started playing BF1942 recently with me. He thinks it works great and looks cool too, he really likes the light-up glowing buttons. All in all, I think it's a great joystick for a very reasonable price.

Drifts to the left, a BIG annoyance.,
By Tim Schindler (Edmond, OK United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Saitek Cyborg Evo Joystick (Personal Computers)
I recently purchased this joystick because I saw it at BestBuy awhile ago and I liked the feel and look of it. A month later I decided to buy it.When it arrived, I installed the drivers, I loaded up World War 2 Online, and noticed instantly that it drifts to the left, even when you are not touching it! I went to the support forums for the Saitek Cyborg Evo and noticed that quite a few other people are having the problem of the joystick drifting to the left and the calibration not saving. You have to recalibrate the joystick each time you restart and for some people, including me, it does not fix the problem of the drifting. I also noticed while viewing the support forums that some Saitek joysticks also had the same problem in the past. Its a good joystick, but I would stay away until the left drift problem and calibration saving problem is gone.

Good, but not for flight sims...,

The good: Numerous buttons on the stick plus 6 more on the base, nice feel to the stick - highly adjustable and works equally well for lefties and righties. Twist the stick for rudder control.
The bad: Saitek has ruined an otherwise great product by placing the throttle control in an unusable position (at the bottom center of the base, right under the arm that is using the joystick itself. Its basically impossible to use the throttle and the joystick at the same time, without it being highly ackward as you'll tend to have to cross your hands. Also, a missing feature on the throttle is the afterburner detente notch. Bottom line - nice joystick, cool looking lights, but if you play flight simulators and want this stick for the throttle, look elsewhere for a single stick solution that has the throttle on the side (much more usable) or go for a two controller solution, like Saitek's X52.

Gets the job done, fair for the price,

I use this with X-Plane, I love having a full HOTAS set-up, or even better a Cyrus console or yoke with pedals, BUT, because of my mobile (even nomadic) lifestyle I needed something that will get the job done and not take up a lot of space. This stick has the three essential flight controls - ailerons, rudder, and throttle, plus convenient buttons to set-up as elevator trim and flaps controls. There is an 8-way hat, which is convenient for view control or, if you prefer, elevator and rudder trim controls. There is enough buttons for convenient landing gear, brakes, and engine controls. The only issue I have with this stick is the spring tension, well it's not terrible, its useable, but I really wish it was tighter (I'm considering manually replacing the spring). All factors considered - this stick accomplishes my need for a compact, yet functional flight control, for a fair price.I would like to note that the left-drifting tendency that Tim Schindler has experienced is likely the simulated torque effect of propeller driven aircraft.

eh.. not bad,

Well, the base is stable, and the joystick is precise enough that I don't notice any drifting while playing games. I did notice drifting while testing it in the control panel, but as long as it doesn't get any worse, I guess it's okay.Unfortunately, this joystick is about as comfortable as it looks, and button placement is a little awkward. Still, having 5 buttons and a hat switch at thumb's reach is pretty good. Your arm might also nudge the throttle (which is at the back), depending on how you adjust the palm rest. It's not all bad, though. The "single spring gimbal mechanism" gives the joystick a very smooth feel... you can move the stick in circles, for example, without feeling the axes shift. It's not ideal for giving the joystick a well-defined center, but like I said, it's okay as long as it doesn't get any worse. All in all, it's an average joystick that'll do the job. You'll get about what you pay for.

Great stick,

This is a great stick. A couple of my friends bought this stick at nearly the same time without each other knowing and we all love it. You really need to mount it to a fixed base tho to really lock in the controls so the stick doesn't move with you. The height adjustment is a nice touch as are the controls for the thumb buttons. I play a ton of BF1942 and this is a great stick for helicopters, I won't say its the best since I haven't tried many, but you won't go wrong with this one.

Great Joystick overall. A++
I've logged hundreds of hours on mine in the battlefield series of games, as well as Star Wars Battlefront 2. You can DOGFIGHT ANYBODY, STARFIGHT ANYBODY, and very likely win, with this joystick, hands down. The base spans out nice and wide as seen, the rubber pads on the bottom grasp my desk very good, and it does not slide around at all while using it. I was worried about how tall the joystick is, fearing it would be uncomfortable or be hard on the elbow/wrist angle.... Not so at all, it is a very comfortable fit for a medium to large size hand. Smaller hands might have trouble because setting the palmrest higher means wrist angle will be greater because of higher grasp..... Only one small con, the throttle being directly in the middle at the back is very difficult to manipulate, almost troublesome. I still use the keyboard for throttle control, but this is most comfortable for me anyways. But thats the sacrifice made for a joystick made to accomodate right and left handers. I would buy this joystick again if I needed another and I would highly recommend this joystick to anybody laboring over reviews and leary of spending alot of money.

Recently my old Microsoft Sidewinder Pro died and i was off on a search for a new joystick. As you all know since Microsoft got out of the gaming hardware industry their have been many poor items on the market.Did not want to spend the money on a CH product, out of the budget, but wanted something fairly good. This is the puppy for those needing a good joystick on a budget.Does it have its flaws?Yes it does but none are as glaring as the problems with the recent Logitechs. For the money it is the best i have found.
