768 levels of play. 11 Expanded teaching modes to work towards checkmate with selected pieces. Openings coach to practice 16 classic opening move sequences. Nice takeback function (up to 16 moves - eight per side). Simple computer interface with good instruction manual. Nice under the board storage compartment for the pieces. Only drawback - not compatible with AC adapters. A great value!

The Saitek Aragon is a nice beginner/intermediate level chess computer that will keep you challenged as your skills grow. The programming seems good as it plays consistently through the opening, middle and endgames. This set does not have a magnetic playing field and the pieces are not weighted so you have to be careful how you handle it. The voice feature is nice to have and was especially appreciated by my wife and daughter as they are rookie players. If you don't mind the lightweight feel and construction, the Aragon is a nice playing chess computer.

I bought this talking chess computer as a gift for my husband and he loves it! Since he wanted to learn to play chess and I don't, I thought this would be a good companion for him, and I was right. It has many difficulty levels to choose from, and the easiest levels are actually possible for a novice to beat, which is a confidence booster for the true beginner. I do have two complaints, though. First, the pieces are so lightweight. The slighest little jiggle knocks them over, which is really frustrating. But my biggest beef is that I spent extra money on this because I wanted the talking version, which I thought would more actively coach my husband through his learning games. It does not do that! It has a couple of stock phrases that either approve or disapprove of a move you made, and that's all! All other communication is through the display panel. It is definitely NOT worth the additional $$ for the so-called "talking" feature.
