Which remote is better?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Saitek Playstation 2 DVD Remote Control (Video Game)
The two remotes I've seen for the PS2 launch are this Saitek remote and one made by Interact. While I've never purchased a product from Saitek, Interact is notorious for making substandard accessories (working retail software for 2 years taught me that). Both remotes will control the PS2 and your TV but Saitek's remote has a pass-though port for the controller (to avoid swapping out the controller for the infrared receiver everytime you want to watch a movie - the Interact remote does not). If you're looking for a remote to buy at launch, this one is a better bet.

A MUST FOR YOUR PS2!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Saitek Playstation 2 DVD Remote Control (Video Game)
I have purchased Saitek controllers in the past and have been happy with their quality and innovation. The remote is not only cool looking, but it is extremely functional. The pass-through allows you to keep your controller plugged in with the reciever meaning less wear on the controller/reciever/PS2 and best of all, my kids won't unplug the reciever and loose it! This is the only one that I have seen that does not block the USB port (the Saitek one is offset) and it matches the PS2 perfectly. I think I'm in heaven! Thanks Saitek!

Pros and Cons of the Saitek DVD remote,
By Skunkwerx (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Saitek Playstation 2 DVD Remote Control (Video Game)
For 2 days after launch I frantically looked for a DVD controller that actually worked with the PS2. Given that fact that INTERACT's remote had/has compatibility issues, ..., I decided to give the Saitek remote a whirl. The Saitek remote is the sleekest looking of all PS2 compatible remotes currently out on the gaming market, black/slotted design and blue infrared interface piece that compliments the PS2 look. The plug-in interface is the best as it fits snug into the controller port and does not block any of the USB,Firewire,or player 2 ports. Thus you are able to leave the interface in place and plug a game controller into the passthrough slot without having the need to switch back and forth from interface to game controller. HOW DOES IS WORK? ---- The remote is small, sleek and the buttons are clearly marked however (based on my testing) I found one of the buttons not marked correctly. Per the instructions, if you were to select a DVD menu item, you need to press the "Confirm" button(equivelant of X on the game controller) on the remote to excute the command... this was not the case, as the PS2 was interpreting the button as RESUME? After about 5 mins I was able to determine that the STOP button on the remote would work in the place of CONFIRM. Defect? Unknown? Also the directional button on the remote is somewhat "flimsy", you don't get a true sense of response as if you are pressing UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT. The CHAPTER FORWARD/REVERSE buttons worked fine. The SEARCH buttons on the otherhand are a little "hit or miss", though the remote interface on the PS2 will blink when receiving a signal from the remote, at about 10-12 feet the remote would not consistantly Forward Search or Rev Search correctly. The search would begin and then stop to normal playback, as if the interface stopped receiving the signal from the remote momentarily. Based on the remotes I have seen from Interact, Pelican, Electro Source and Saitek. The Saitek is the best so far in terms of appearance however the button issues hurt this remote's rating from 5 (for looks) to 2 (for functionality)
