A must read for fans of the anime,

This volume continues the encounter with the Scorpion demon, and the tough decision Goku needs to make to save Sanzo's life. This is one of the first issues where it becomes evident where the anime departed from the original storyline. A darker, more sinister Dr. Ni (the weirdo with the stuffed bunny)gets his hands on Kougaji and Lirin to perform his twisted experiments, which is only hinted about in the anime. The beginnings of a new storyline emerge where a few casual gripes by Gojyo may prove fatal for his companions.
High quality drawings with a good mixture of humorous camaraderie, action filled fighting, and serious character introspection make Saiyuki one of the best manga out there. |
