My only reason for giving these fab pens a 4 out of 5 is that: when I first bought these pens, I was disappointed for the same reason many of the people here were. The colors were washed out and hardly the shade of the cap if at all, in some cases.

I still however, used the pens, since the brand is most definitely the best out there when it comes to color pens, in my opinion. Anyway...As time went on and I used them off and on through the years- They grew on me. Hardcore! And you know, I probably now prefer them to the vibrant gels!

They are muted and sophisticated while still maintaining the great fun look of a gel pen. They all compliment each other and result in a very clean, lovely, cohesive look when grouped.
(great for scrapbooks and diary's where personality is desired but bright childish colors are not.)

I highly recommend giving them a try. You may love them! I certainly do.

I like all of Sakura's Gelly Roll pens, and these are no exception. Colors have a silvery sheen, so they are all a bit more washed out than they appear on their caps. They work well from the first drop of ink to the last, which is a rare thing for most coloring pens.

I can see why some people say they're dissapointed in color, but I'm pretty satisified with it. I love using them on black paper... I'm happy with my purchase.

The Sakura Gelly Roll Pens are OK. The colors are nice. The problem is that some of the pens are almost dry and others are too wet and are easily smeared. There needs to be more quality control in the manufacturing of these pens. The ones that work as you would expect are great.
The color assortment is good, just wish the pens were consistent in the amount of, and density of the ink they contain. Also wish these pens had a finer tip. When you end up with a pen that has excess ink and is messy, the medium tip becomes broad.

Aloha. I use these pens on fine pen and ink drawings for highlights and fun accents.
I prefer the sargent ones as their lines are finer, the ink stays put and they have a better sparkle now that I've used both.
These pens have a medium point line and the ink dries slowly so it can smear if you are not careful.
Most sparkle ink dries slowly, so that is just an FYI for all the lefties out there like myself--otherwise you'll erase as you draw!
On several occasions the silver one has 'blobbed' when I went to place a line, but the color is very nice, and this particular color I like better than the Sargent one. So I am very careful. If you are using them for crafting and this isn't an issue then they are a great buy. If doing more fine art--then try the sargent fine point ones instead. The caps fall off easy on these too...but, hey--the price is right to buy both and experiment!

*update Feb 2013: These have actually become my favorite pens because of the sparkle factor in the ink. They DO blob and they DO run and if touched before dry they smear--BUT, if you are aware of this and use them wisely--the SPARKLE and the light in the colors, especially the metalic green and blues-are unmatched by any other pens I have. The Sargent ones are much more expensive too.

I also 'blob' them in a puddle and use a fine point brush to work now. That works fine for tiny fine lines.

WOW! I am so impressed with these pens. I'm a late bloomer, so just now, at the age of almost 60, I am finally catching up with the teenage craze/infatuation with brightly colored pens. Maybe it's just because the quality is so much better now than what was available back then. Nah, who am I kidding. I was a total tomboy, so my "OOooooo, glitter pens!" phase is just now kicking in.

These are so smooth and rich in color. I love using them in the creation of my ATCs that I trade. They even work well on smooth plastic, but require a coating of a clear sealant of some sort to keep them from smearing, even after 'drying' for a full day. I have found that the clear Glaze pen is perfect for that, and gives dimension, yet still allows for the glitter effect to show through nicely.

Seriously great product. Flows smoothly when not too much pressure is exerted. A light touch is definitely better for a fluid writing or coloring experience. If the flow bogs down because of damp or pulpy paper surface, just tapping out little dots of color will allow for you to fill in areas that you want to have full color coverage.

I have previously bought sakura pens from art stores where I live, and they are exceedingly expensive. I decided to order a set online as I use them quite regularly and wanted more colors. These pens match the quality of the ones I have bought previously and work great. You get the pens shown in the picture (same colors displayed) and they are packaged in the correct packaging.
However, you should be warned of a few things if you have never used sakura pens before. The ink in them is very liquid. When writing with the pen, the ink flows out easily and creates thick lines that can be smudged before they dry, allow it time to dry without touching it and there will be no problems. Also, these pens are metallic. Do not be thrown off by the pen caps expecting something super sparkly. These pens provide smooth lines of a shiny metallic ink, but not any heavy amount of sparkle.
I love these pens and find they fully met my expectations, and additionally had good shipping time and were at a great price.
