About the Author
Alma Flor Ada grew up in Cuba. Her family lived in a "wonderful big old house." If she went out the front door, she was on the street. But if she went out the back door, she found a special world that sparked her imagination. It was a world of fruit trees and animals. There were cows and a horse and a river full of life: herons, fish, bullfrogs, and turtles. Alma Flor Ada says that she writes to share some of the feelings she had as a child: "the joy, the excitement, the surprise." She says that seeing her books in the hands of a child is one of her greatest joys.
Alma Flor Ada has lived in Cuba, Spain, Peru, and the United States. She writes books in both Spanish and English. She has four children and three grandchildren.
SUE WILLIAMS is the author of the acclaimed picture books I Went Walking and Let's Go Visiting, as well as Dinnertime! She lives in Adelaide, Australia, where she is also an editor and publisher of children's books.
JULIE VIVAS is the illustrator of Let's Go Visiting as well as the Mem Fox classics Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge and Possum Magic. She lives in Sydney, Australia.

I am a bilingual storyteller and was introduced to this book through my job. The illustrations are good, portraying a young boy as he goes on a walk and all the animals he comes across. The children I've read this book to love to guess what animal they will be seeing next by using the pictures. I would recommend this book to parents with small children. You can do so much with it!

We learned about this book in a child-parent developmental class. I purchased it used (all I could find at the time!) for my Spanish-dominant toddler. We've had this book for nearly a year and he's still not tired of it (we are, but such is life). Both English and Spanish versions have a nice sing-song quality to the narrative. And the main character looks both boy-ish and girl-ish (which we like). Great classic book!

I love this book and my daughter does too! The spanish translates beautifully. The text and story is quite entertaining. I highly recommed this book for babies over 12months.
