Lame book, just a plug for his website
Lame book: there is more information on FSOB in the much more general House Selling for Dummies. This padded book is weak on specifics, and is largely just a plug to the overpriced website that I found misleading. Their site suggests that you'll incur "0%" commission, but after you pay, sign all the forms, etc. then you find out that there is a minimum 2% commission to...

Lame book: there is more information on FSOB in the much more general House Selling for Dummies. This padded book is weak on specifics, and is largely just a plug to the overpriced website that I found misleading. Their site suggests that you'll incur "0%" commission, but after you pay, sign all the forms, etc. then you find out that there is a minimum 2% commission to buyers agent. There are cheaper MLS listing services with lower commissions.
Also, there is no "kit." It's just a URL at the end of the book. Very weak.

Although the book is titled for sale by owner, Irwin also includes information about how to get the best deal with a real estate agent. Ever thought of negotiating for a commission split? He explains how you could use an attorney instead of an agent, and the difference between brokers and agents. It may be useful for some, in these tough economic times, to read his chapter on foreclosures, and how to avoid them. What everyone will find useful is his chapter on how to write an ad for your house that will draw buyers, how to close a deal, and the pros and cons of auctions. |
