Salem Witch Trials is a straight forward uninteresting book.,

This review is from: The Salem Witch Trials (How History is Invented) (Hardcover)
When I began reading Salem Witch Trials by Lori Lee Wilson I noticed that it was very factual. I kept reading and hoped it would come up with something interesting, but still nothing that interested me. All I got out of this book was a bland display of boring facts no different form a textbook. I would recommend this to anyone doing a report about the subject and needs nothing but info.

Salem Witch Trials,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Salem Witch Trials (How History is Invented) (Hardcover)
Salem Witch Trials by Lori Lee Wilson is a fantastic book that informs yet entertains the reader. It has so many facts and real stories that are animated in your head. The court stories swim into you, making you wonder how so many women and men could be accused of such a thing. Their own children even testified against them! The history of witchcraft is such a fascinating thing, knowing that so long ago, people were worshipping so joyously and freely. I would recommend this book to everyone that wants to know more about our nation's history of the witch trials!

This book had a lot of factual information about the witch trials and the happenings that led up to them. The book reflects on the beliefs of magic and the religious impact on witchcraft. I would recommend this book for someone who wasn't knowlegeable on witchcraft and how it carries on to modern day.

I would recommend this book because its contents are very factual. The information is supported by facts and has good bibliographic information. This book would be a great research tool for a person who wasn't knowledgable on the trials and the events that led up to them.

The word witch comes from the celtic word wicca which means magician. More than half the world believes in witches. European witchcraft is anti christian and associated with the devil. It has its origins in the stone ages. A witch doctor has to go to an apprenticeship to learn it. Satan is Hebrew for adversary. The biblical Lucifer went to hell. The church burnt some 300,000 women from 1648 to 1782. Only those deemed most dangerous were burnt. Puritans emhpasized bible reading, prayer and preaching. Salem started in 1692. They wanted to purify the church. Wealth meant that God had blessed them/ By 1640 Massachussets Bay colony had about 10,000 settlers. Exodus 22:18 says, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."
