5.0 out of 5 stars If you are serious, these spells WORK!!!
I am a collector of love spells and have found this book filled with wonderful spells, useful information and myth shattering facts all written with a realistic sense of humor. When raising energy for love and romance, it is easy to get bogged down in the seriousness and self-imposed importance of its presence. Lilith reminds us that it is joy we are looking to call...

1.0 out of 5 stars Salem Witch's Book of Joke Spells?
If you take this book as a joke, it is absolutely wonderful. However, if you buy this book looking for real, honest spells, then, well, you've bought the wrong book.

Mainly, the spells that are listed are purely psychologically healing rituals, but not really spellcraft at all. Many of the spells that are listed are good for a laugh, but not to seriously...

I am a collector of love spells and have found this book filled with wonderful spells, useful information and myth shattering facts all written with a realistic sense of humor. When raising energy for love and romance, it is easy to get bogged down in the seriousness and self-imposed importance of its presence. Lilith reminds us that it is joy we are looking to call to us and we need to be serious yet light and joyful! I must say that I am particularly partial to the 'Jethro' spell. In three uses of it , I have yet to fail! I can't wait for her next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY DOWN TO EARTH AND HUMOROUS BOOK!, September 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Salem Witches Book Of Love Spells: Ancient Spells from Modern Witches (Paperback)
This book is great! Ms.McLELLAND's writing is very down to earth and very honest. She does not keep you guessing. Its detailed descriptions of the spells and short stories is a must read for anyone interested in these type of spells. I happen to use one of her spells some months ago and it worked like a charm. I was very satisfied and some of the paragraphs had me smiling because I knew she was right on the money!! She has a Q&A page and a recommended reading which was also helpful. I would not give away or lend this book to anyone. Let them buy their own copy!! :P

5.0 out of 5 stars A funny, but seriously written book!, May 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Salem Witches Book Of Love Spells: Ancient Spells from Modern Witches (Paperback)
I have been interested in spells every since I was a little girl. Never have I read such a work from an author who can, at times, laugh at herself and what she believes in. Lilith tells the reader exactly what to do for these spells to work, and lays down the ground rules first. A must-have for your library!

It's only me, Lilith. I wanted to thank all of you for your kind reviews. (Susan, I have a new book coming out, so give me another shot at it?) Whoever it was who did the "Jethro" spell 3 times -- you GO girlfriend, and send the leftovers my way. (Didja get any who looked like Russell Crowe, by any chance? Just checkin'.)

The book is temporarily unavailable because of a change in publishers, but should be back in print by about October 1.

Again, thank all of you who bought the book, and I really do appreciate it. You guys have MADE my day! To say the least. (Do ya love it that I gave myself five stars? Mom used to say that modesty is a virtue, but I just don't get it...)

Keep those potions bubbling, Lilith McLelland

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was both humorous and informative., October 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Salem Witches Book Of Love Spells: Ancient Spells from Modern Witches (Paperback)
This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be the last. The author took a humorous approach to something serious and pulled it off. The book was extremely informative, using very practical and useful spells without taking it to a majorly serious level. She also provided a Q+A of questions asked about Salem witches. This book was fantasic and I would reccamend it to anyone weather your advanced in witchcraft or just beginning. You get a strong laugh out of it as well. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great love spells, July 5, 2003

This is one of the best books of love spells I have ever read. Some of the spells are named after certain god/dess's problems which makes them a little more interesting. The chapter on white trash love spells is a hoot but also useful. The author's humor keeps you reading and makes you want to try some of these cool spells. Just don't forget your ethics in casting these spells.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comic relief, May 6, 2001
This review is from: The Salem Witches Book Of Love Spells: Ancient Spells from Modern Witches (Paperback)
I adore this book. If I'm having an off day, this is one of the first books that I pull off my shelves. The tongue-in-cheek humor is perfect. However, I wouldn't consider this book to be a teaching tool... unless I wanted to show a student that witchcraft does have elements of comic relief.

I personally think this book is great. Ms. McLelland is very witty and I enjoyed reading it. Other readers have stated that you must approach this book lightheartedly, to which I agree, but isn't life just that way? I used the "Rotten-to-the-Core" spell and in my opinion it worked just fine. Ms. McLelland states first and foremost that one must keep the Wiccan Rede in mind or suffer the consequences, good advice for beginners and good reminders for those of us that have been around the magickal block a few times. And remember that you don't always get results over night, you sometimes have to work for them!
