About the Author

Why is Toby Marshall Uniquely Qualified to be a lead creator? Marketing for small business requires a lot of different processes and a lot of different skills to integrate it and make it effective. At the age of 57 Toby Marshall has 42 years of experience primarily in sales and marketing, including running small to medium-sized services business-so he understands the real issues of running a small business and making it profitable * Toby Marshall started work in sales at the tender age of fifteen when his father became ill and he had to help support the family. This involved selling greeting cards to small shops spread all over Sydney and New South Wales. It was a hard lesson in the need to provide a good product and a good service if you are to survive in tough times. * Toby Marshall has worked with and mentored young people for almost 20 years-the very best of their generation. In fact, Lead Creation now has 21 young people working in the business. Many of them helped write this book. These young people take Toby Marshall's expertise and depth of knowledge and add the technology needed to make a marketing machine work. * Good marketers know that words (or copy) is the foundation of all marketing-the words on your website, in your newsletters, video scripts and the 20 other components of a modern marketing system need to be persuasive and informative. Toby ran a report writing business for many years, Marshall's Reports, where he developed these skills. * Toby Marshall has been studying the only marketing that works for small business for over five years now. This is Direct Response Marketing-marketing that can be measured and the results quantified and assessed. He has been studying this and working with mentors and in Mastermind groups now for over five years to build on the foundations of big company marketing that he had learnt previously. * Toby Marshall thinks strategically-he studied his MBA at Australia's leading business school-the AGSM where he received high distinctions in marketing. Toby has been with his first wife Sarah for 29 years and 11 months-doubt there'll be a second! Love my 2 children-Charlotte who is 18 and currently wandering around Europe, and Guy who is 21 and has entered the creative world of advertising (and is the ultimate party animal!). His hobbies are tennis, skiing, sailing, networking, cafes, travel, and looking at the world with different eyes.

This review is from: Sales Lead Generation for Small Business: The Complete Guide to Getting More Clients with Online & Offline Marketing (Paperback)
Apparently we live in an era where anyone can now be an author. This book is a joke. A bad, bad joke. There are more typos and awkward syntax in the first chapter than you'd find in most 6th grader papers. The jumbled organization makes me believe that this thing was slapped together over a weekend.

Yes, it really is that bad.

And the 'expertise' or intellectual qualifications of the author? I leave that to you to decide, but when I see constructs like his 'marketing triangle' or advice to small businesses that they need to spread their message/marketing budget across as many different media as possible, which any experienced small business marketer will tell you is tantamount to flushing your budget down a toilet, I have serious doubts.
