5.0 out of 5 stars Great help for the new user.
I purchased several copies of the book for my sales team whose technical proficiency was across the board. 2.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't recommend the Kindle Edition
If you're considering this title in the Kindle edition - think twice. There are numerous screenshots which are simply too small to read. Text can be enlarged on the Kindle, but images cannot. Stick with the paper edition.

While all of the material is covered in the online help available from Salesforce.com, several team members felt much more comfortable with a book that they could hold. It is a great help in getting all of the team members to use the same nomenclature which is the first step in any sales "methodology" becoming effective.

Those wishing a deeper dive, should look at the author's other books targeted towards a more advanced and technical audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Like Having a Tiny Consultant in Your Hand, October 22, 2008

I'm relatively new to Salesforce.com and I've found this book to be a huge help. At my organization, we did not hire any consultants to assist us in customizing Salesforce.com for our needs. This book has been by my side as a handy resource to the questions that I've had as I get comfortable with Salesforce.com Regardless of your technical proficiency, this book is a good resource to those look to become more comfortable with Salesforce.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dumming it down for an admitted dummy, February 6, 2005
By
Richard (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
As a new user to the CRM program, Salesforce.com, I was overwhelmed by the amount of information presented on the website. My first thought was, "I wish somebody would writed a "Dummy" book for the program. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was being released and ordered my copy immediately. I received my copy shortly and began reading and applying the data presented in the book.

While I will continue to avail myself of the training presented on the Salesforce.com site, the presentation of the data in Salesforce.com for Dummies has given my use of the program a real kick-start.

The writer (Mr. Wong), has written this book for users of the program, not for computer programmers. The data is laid out in concise, easy-to-understand terms which even "sales-types" like myself can understand. Applying the suggestions in the chapter on customization has saved me hours of "hair-pulling" work.

I will continue to reference this book and will make it required reading for all those in my company using Salesforce.com. It makes a great CRM program even better, because we will now be able to use all of the features, rather than a few basic one.

I run a small business that supports Non-profits manage their donor database. Salesforce.com has been our product of choice. While this doesn't speak to the Non-Profit package perfectly, it does provide some great basic support for set-up, maintenance, and training. It's a good go to for when we want to do something new in Salesforce.com. I would say it's the perfect companion to SalesForce.com's on-line training tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than previous version!, December 29, 2010

Tom comes back strong after his last edition - this one is much more comprehensive than the last - if you are a new or relatively inexperienced user this will be a huge help - and if you are a new system admin this should be your SFDC Bible for a while. Highly, highly recommended...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Review Of The Reviews, February 25, 2008
By
Dub_Head (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Salesforce.com For Dummies (For Dummies (Lifestyles Paperback)) (Paperback)
I couldn't help noticing that there are 3 Five Star raving reviews of this book posted on the same day from Feb 6 2005 (Strange considering there are only 6 in total). I'm sorry but that is too coincidental making them suspect and of no use to someone like me who just wants an honest opinion from an objective reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great intro and reference guide, September 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great book showing WHAT can be done with Salesforce, not so much a HOW to do it. The WHAT was what I was looking for - there are lots of "Here's how to configure X" manuals and materials out there, including the substantial user manual that comes with Salesforce. As I design and implement the Salesforce configuration, I find myself referring about equally to "Dummies", the Saleforce User Guide, and Google.

3.0 out of 5 stars Salesforce for Dummies, March 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Salesforce.com For Dummies (For Dummies (Lifestyles Paperback)) (Paperback)
Good overview but lacking in detailed usage instructions. Need to have step by step walk throughs because the online help feature is very confusing. Also needs to reference more clearly what version of Salesforce and modules are needed for certain scenarios.

This is a great book on SalesForce in the tried and true '- For Dummies' format. Covers a lot of the functionality of SalesForce in a well laid out manner. Between this book and "maximizing your sales with Salesforce.com" you should have everything you need on hand in your house/office to get you around SalesForce like a pro.
