5.0 out of 5 stars Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett: A Tall Tall
Steven Kellogg is wonderful telling the story of Sally Ann from her birth, her running, and the bear battle, to meeting and marrying Davey Crockett. Very strong woman. This folklore tale has excellent color illustrations. I would highly recommend this one for reading to and by the K through the 8th grade, along with a recommendation for teachers and parents, also.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the book I expected
This book was linked to a book of the same title, but a different author/illustrator - Steven Kellogg. NOT the same and not what I wanted or thought I was buying. It's an ok book - in good shape and will work as a comparison, but I needed the Kellogg book for my lesson plans. Given the price I paid for it, I won't complain too much, but I do feel a bit deceived - kinda...

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite chidren's books!, November 5, 1998
By A Customer
This was a great book especially for young girls. It tells the story of a female hero and all her adventures. Even after marrying Davy Crockett, one of the most famous folk hero's, Sally Ann remains independent and the greatest hero in the book. I highly recomend it to anyone, especially those interested in folk tales.

I bought this for my daughter after having purchased all the other Steven Kellogg American folk tales. This book is as good as all the rest, amazing illustration and fun stories. This is particularly unique since it has a female heroine.
