Pre-Millenium Psychosis Sussed - Codeword Recognised, June 16, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
You do not need to read this book in all fairness- it's already floating about the net. And no, I do not mean this particular net we find ourselves darting about, I refer to our Chromosomes, our cellular network, the DNA listing of drug-resistant Tuberculosis Bacilli. It was written the day life appeared.

What can be said that has not been said already?, June 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
Well, stupid, long and boring come to mind, but I think that is just after shocks from "Titanic". Nay, this book hearlds in a new era of publishing, the non-book. In fact, I am sure that this will do for the imagination what the imagination did for books. Yes, it is witty, insightful and just darn fun to read, but it is aso a comment on our life styles in this age. Think about it, will you?

The Parrot was right., June 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
The parrot in the Starship Titanic game won't shut up about this book if you ask him the right question. I agree with him. It is the best of the seven Dirk Gently novels that have been/will be written. DNA strikes again.

Almost, but not quite, completely out of character, June 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
Holistically speaking, of course, the book has been out for quite some time, if not in its current form. However, this subliminal version really doesn't do it for me. I prefer words on paper, and frankly, vague mental suggestions from across the globe are not enough to keep me enthralled, or even in fact listening.

One of the most moving books of recent years., June 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
I can tell you what it's not. It doesn't suffocate the reader with generation labeled hipness like a sitcom with its witty, packaged characters. It doesn't mirror the nightly news as if imagination and the art of literature is no more than substituting names. And it is not a short story simply inflated to justify a hard binding and 24 dollar price. Its absence is more entertaining than most books published today.

Wonderful Reading!, June 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
If you don't have this book yet, allow me to ask you one thing: why not? The adventures (and misadventures) of Mr. Gently are worth every penny of the $24.00 asking price. Not only that, the book comes with a special sense of, well, specialness for the owner. Get yours now! Now, before it's too late! I've already got mine. In fact, Douglas Adams himself has signed my copy. Maybe he'll sign yours, too, if you ask nicely.

Not bad, Holisticaly speaking..., May 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
Well, sure, the book is fantastic. The problem was finding a 200-year old chronologist so that I could borrow his his time machine and jump foreward to the printing of the book. Lots of thrills, lots of spills. It's the best damed book I will be ever reading (I bet patrons at the Restaurant at the end of the Universe never have this problem...) I give it a ten without a salmon of a doubt.

IMHO "Salmon of Doubt" is (or shall I say "will be" ??) the best novel ever written. Douglas Adams at his best!

Ah, paradise!, May 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
I, for one, think that this is going to be a huge hit. Douglas Adams has never, EVER let me down in his stories. I'm positive he isn't going to start letting us down! One suggestion though. Get a new publisher. If he won't publish your works, well, find somebody who cares! I'm practically DROOLING over the prospect of another Dirk Gently book!

Some...most...all of the pages are missing from my copy!, May 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Salmon of Doubt: A Dirk Gently Novel (Hardcover)
I was dissapointed by the complete and utter lack of words on paper. I have come to expect from books, things like pages with words on them. I did like Shogun quite a bit. No lack of words or pages there.
