Amazing flamenco version of a biblical story,
By
This review is from: Salome (DVD)
The film has far exceeded my expectations - watched it at one breath, and loved every frame of it. Beautiful decorations, amazing dancers; Aida Gomez incredible as Salome; great director's and operator's work. Every scene, every movement is deeply thought through - it is also interesting to see the "kitchen" of creating the dance performance, as well as tremendous work of different people involved. Will be enjoyed by lovers of flamenco and modern dance. Saura is on the top, as usual.

Gobsmacked,

This review is from: Salome (DVD)
My taste in music is very broad and changes like the wind pending on the mood I'm in. For example, I love Jazz, blues, R&B, Soul, Classical, Rapt, Rock, Middle Eastern, Indian & Flamenco of course.
Whilst surfing the TV channels via my remote control, just by chance I landed on Salome' I was totally Gobsmacked watching Aida Gomez performing with the other dances together with the Flamenco guitarists, drummers, percussionists etc, absolutely incredible and fantastic. I immediately tried several of my local music stores to no avail.Thank God someone mentioned Amazon because Ebay was also a fizzer. I've just placed the order today and can't wait to relive the experience again. Raymond.

What Better Way To Tell The Story of Salome,

What better way to tell the story of Salome than through dance. Flamenco is the perfect vehicle with which to interpret this story as it is an art form that is as sensuous and intriguing as the story itself, and Carlos Saura is the master story teller in this form. I highly recommend this DVD. However, those who do not appreciate nudity in films should be aware that there is some brief nudity in the scene of the dance of the seven veils. I felt it was appropriate to the story and did not find it offensive in any way. The audio and video quality of this DVD was very good.

Flamenco without feet!,

This is, overall, a wonderful interpretation by Ms. Gomez. My criticism is of the way it was photographed. These are fine dancers, but through almost the whole video, we never see their feet! We can hear the footwork, which sounds excellent, but the photographer is only interested in their faces.

I am not a ballet fan. While being busy in my room I spotted a dancer on TV. The expressive way of her movements had something magnetic in it and made me drop what I was doing and watched the show to the end. After that I went to GOOGLE on my computer, got the details and ordered the copy from you.
