The leather construction makes this lightweight Mission GTX durable and perfect for light trekking. The waterproof design is enhanced with a Gore-Tex membrane and Ortholite lining, while the gusseted tongue keeps where it belongs and the mud guard protects the base of the shoe. OrthoLite sockliner creates a cooler, drier, and better cushioned environment for your foot. 2D Advanced Chassis provides support and torsional control with every stride. These boots are very warm and comfortable, and incredibly lightweight.
Your feet feel very supported and secured, but also light enough to feel almost like sneakers.
I have found that Saloman boots tend to run narrow, but the 11M I ordered seems to be OK, without squeezing my feet, even with fairly thick socks.
They are very stylish looking, and the lace system although a bit fiddly, is secure and strong.
The D hoops at the widest part of the boot hold the laces extremely tightly, and need a sharp tug when removing, something that may shred the laces long term, but I will wait and see.
Nice thick non slip sole, and extra waterproof toe area, and then soft leather upper means functionality and comfort.
Here in Minnesota the weather gets very cold, and so far these boots have been find in sleet and rain, and wind chills in the -1F range.
I have my doubts in deep snow for prolonged periods, but I have snow boots for these times anyway.
Overall a very versatile boot, warm and waterproof enough for fall and early winter, light and supportive for spring and summer hiking.

This is my second pair of Salomon hiking boots. (Plus many pair of Salomon cross-country ski boots!) I believe that these are my new standard for hiking -- and snow-shoeing -- boots; they're cool, comfortable, grippy, and priced well.

This boot is really resistant and is lightweigth despite its robuste appearance. But lace tends to create a lump inside the boot that hurts feet. It needs frequent care to maintain lace in a confortable position!
