Breathable Mesh Upper and Dual Density Midsole
The XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX features a breathable mesh upper that reduces heat and moisture inside your shoes. A lightweight dual density midsole provides cushioning, stability, and motion control to help correct overpronation.
Sensifit for Smooth Movement
Salomon's Sensifit technology cradles the upper instep, providing a precise and secure fit that promotes natural rolling motion from heel to toe.
Rugged Outsole and 3D Chassis for Stability
The shoe's chevron Contagrip tread contains forefoot flex grooves and multidirectional lugs to provide extra traction when running on wet or muddy trails, while a 3D advanced chassis between the midsole and outsole enhances stability by reducing ankle strain and controlling flex. A mudguard and rubber toe cap protect from dampness and add stability.
OrthoLite and Gore-Tex Keep Feet Comfortable and Dry
The XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX features breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex lining that reduces hot spots so your feet stay comfortable in warmer temperatures as well as in cold, wet conditions. An OrthoLite foam footbed keeps your feet cushioned to minimize friction as you run, while EVA in the heel provides extra cushion for heel striking.
Quicklace System for Optimal Fit
The XA Pro Ultra 2 GTX has an asymmetric lacing system that lets you tighten laces in one pull for a customized fit. A gusseted tongue relieves lace pressure and keeps trail debris out of your shoe, while a lace pocket keeps laces secure and out of your way.

They make true to size and fits exactly as I expect for my size.
There are colors for everyone's taste from loud, eye-catching bright tones to dark, muted tones which is more my style. I like mine to be on the down low, but with killer Ninja moves when the occasion calls for it. Rather than the "hey look at me and my bright awesome shoes" and then when the race starts you trip. In any case, I'm just glad Salomon still makes different colors and hasn't gone all out crazy just making bright neon colors on this shoe, yet.
These are my all-season shoes I can count on. I use these from walking on trails with gravel and loosely packed snow. To the parks and malls. Where I live it rains frequently so I don't have fear of getting my feet soaking wet from the rain and the puddles. However don't go Rambo on it as despite having Goretex waterproofing material, the toes do get a bit wet eventually. When I complained at the Salomon stand-alone store, I was told it's normal.
The soles are very durable running in them at the gym and have better than average traction. My biggest complain are the cracks that easily form by the force of the outer toe mound. Of course this will depend on how aggressive you use the shoe, but for a trail running shoe then it supposed to be reinforced for this purpose. I even walked into a North Face store and the person said it's a shame it's a nice shoe with the same weakness we all know about. (I did buy a North Face trail running shoe also that day when I saw they had the quick lace system similar to the Salomon, but the fit and lacing is terrible).Read more ›
Overall, a good product, a bit pricey, but they pack in alot of technology.
Amazing. I'd call them a crass between a athletic shoe and a light hiking boot. Short of serious mountaineering these will fit the bill for me. I'm a size 10 and I got what I expected, they fit. You can adjust the tension in seconds to accommodate sock thickness. I've had these only one week and have put 20 miles on them so far, under the weight of a pack mind you. Solid construction, fits like a atletic show, functions like a boot, keeps me dry but doesn't weigh me down. I'll be buying another pair so I can alternate these throughout my training. Keep in mind that they are gortex. My review is in a winter month, I may get the non gortex ones for hotter times of year.
