5.0 out of 5 stars Salamon Review, May 7, 2009
These trail shoes are totally awesome! I can take the toughest trails and know that I have a good grip with these on. The laces do work lose but I've found that if you just readjust right before you start off on the trail you'll be good.

This review is from: Salomon Women's XA Pro 3D Ultra Trail Running Shoe (Apparel)
The Salomon Women's XA Pro 3D Ultra Trail Running Shoes are very comfortable and supportive. I recently had achilles tendonitis and was looking for a pair of shoes that would allow me to go hiking in the mountains without irritation. We hiked for 5 1/2 hours in the rain up and back down the Ramsey Cascades Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains through mud puddles and over rocks and I didn't get one single blister. They dry pretty quickly as well although at one point along the trail I wished I had purchased the waterproof version of this shoe. Great shoe for hiking and walking! No regrets on this purchase.

Great shoe. Light weight and durable. They run a little big and a little narrow.

These are nice shoes, but for trail running, they are more shoe than I need (I'm a 110-lb female.) I've had several pairs of Salomon XA Comp, and these were much better for me. I'll be using the Pro more for hiking. I love the lacing system (same as the Comp) and have not had the durability problems with the lacing that some have experienced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, July 30, 2011

These shoes are by far the best fitness shoes I have ever owned. I have high arches and it has been a nightmare trying to find fitness shoes where I don't have to add a support. I use these shoes to run in, play golf in, hike in, just about every activty I do. I currently own 7 pair and am looking right now to buy another. Don't pass this shoe by or if you do. no worries it will probably end up in my closet.

I'm not a runner, but I like to walk and hike. I'm so happy with them that I intend to buy a second pair so I can switch them off. Great support, great feel and I love the laces. Highly recommend them!

I bought these shoes to take on a hiking trip to Machu Pichu (not yet taken). I have tried them out on trails near my home and have been happy with the performance---especially the grip going up and down hills. The lacing system has taken quite a few adjustments to get evenly placed on my feet. I also added some heel gels -- runners probably wouldn't need them but walkers might. I torn a tendon in my foot which acts up occasionally. I found this shoe to provide the adequate ankle support that I needed.

These are one of the few kinds of sneakers that are sold in half sizes above a Women's size 10. I wear a 10.5 and have the hardest time finding athletic shoes in that size and always had to buy either a 10 (too small), or an 11 (too big). These are the best and fit your feet like a glove with the lacing system.

I love this shoe!! I hike/walk briskly 5 miles daily through varied terrain (hills, rocks, flats, sand) and this shoe keeps my footing stable and comfortable. The orthotic footbed that comes with the shoe is great for me. Prior to this shoe, I'd tried Asics, Saucony and Nike shoes in variable styles and while they are not bad shoes, I've had to use the Smart Feet inserts to get the inner support. Not with this shoe. It is supportive but extremely light. The sole isn't slippery like some trail shoe soles and really grips rocks and trails on steep downhills (and uphills) even in damp situations.

I've not tried running yet. The lacing system is convenient but needs some adjustment at first. It's easy to just pull and go but then it can be too tight in one area and too loose in another. Taking some time to accommodate your lacing needs solves the issue. I wear an 8 1/2 womens shoe and I bought the 9 to accommodate thicker socks (which it does) but it works well with the thinner socks I've been wearing.

Since I've had these for a short time, I can't review how they hold up over time but I'm hopeful they'll be good. They are so comfortable and supportive, I want to wear them all day. I had been wearing the Asics trail shoe and was unhappy with its performance and durability compared to an Asics running shoe I'd worn before. I bought this shoe based on other reviews and having seen it in a running shoe store. The Amazon price is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars My absolute fovourite, September 1, 2010
To say that I love and adore these shoes is an understatement. I have literally clocked up thousands of miles and hundreds of mountains in these trail running shoes and they have never been anything but kind to my feet. Usually there are teething problems and blisters etc but not with these. The grips are amazing, giving the confidence for rapid ascent and descent, the fit is comfortable and secure, the pull lace is great, never having to worry about it coming loose or tripping over laces and they are quick-drying for when I've had to cross rivers or have been running in the rain. I will always have these runners, one pair to be replaced by another until I can no longer run (because I know there won't be a problem with these).
