great guitarists,
By A Customer
This review is from: Salsa Flamenca (Audio CD)
These are two of the most talented guitarists I've had the pleasure of seeing in concert. Unlike some other guitar duos in this genre, like Strunz & Farah, these two are distinctively different in their playing style and it shows in the music. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to branch out from the norm and discover some new musical terrain.

New forms of salsa and flamenco,
By A Customer
This review is from: Salsa Flamenca (Audio CD)
As the title declares, this is neither straight salsa nor pure flamenco, but a new hybrid of both -- salsa flamenca! It makes for a highly satisfying rhythmic and melodic cohesion of both genres. I first discovered Young & Rollins when I heard one of their performances featured on a compilation CD of other new flamenco guitar greats. I bought their CD not expecting to find that every one of their compositions shines. It is hard to point out highlights when every track on the album is so colorful and distinctive -- truly a rarity in the CD market.

Great! Very unique combination of Flamenco and Salsa,

Whether you are a long-time fan of Flamenco music, or you just want to get a taste of this spectacular genre, this CD should be in your shopping cart. I've been fortunate enough to attend live performances by Young & Rollins--their music follows the best traditions set by such masters of Flamenco as Paco De Lucia, Al DiMeola, and John McLaughlin, but they've also found a way to uniquely combine traditional Flamenco with the energizing rhythm of salsa music.

Sublime Excellence,

This review is from: Salsa Flamenca (Audio CD)
This is a hell of a debut album. I didn't know what to expect when I first bought it, I got it on a friends recommendation because I like Strunz and Farrah. Young and Rollins guitar playing is nothing short of phenomenal. I particularly enjoy "Running of the Bulls" and "Scorpion." If you like Strunz and Farrah, this is the only band that rivals them (or possibly exceeds).

On a recent visit to the U.S.A. I had the privilege of hearing Young & Rollins perform. I found their energy, and musical creativity refreshing and riveting and Upon my return to Israel was delighted when friends sent me their Salsa Flamenca CD. Everyone that hears this original and inspired music shares my enthusiasm and we look forward to hearing more about these artists on the international scene.

I never get tired of listening to this CD,

It's rare that I like so many songs on a single CD. I was listening to it the upteenth time the other day, and kept thinking -- "yeah, this is my favorite song," until the next song came along and I thought, "no wait, this is my favorite song"...and so forth. I've shared this CD with family and friends, and they feel the same way. Plus, I've been privileged enough to hear Y&R in concert. If they're in your area, don't miss 'em!

You can dance or simply listen,

You can dance, no matter where you are from, you'll find some of their notes familiar...and that's because they know how to mix and match. Or you can simply listen, and enjoy the warm sound of their guitars.
