Nice Rough Sound
This is the only Latin music CD in my collection, so I can't claim to be an expert. What drew me to this CD originally was it's somewhat rough edges. The songs are not overproduced as is often the case. It sounds like a recording done "live" and for the most part is very peppy toe-tapping music. Not as good as their other two albums
Bio Ritmo's three albums, Rumba Baby Rumba, Salsa Galactica, and Que Siga La Musica, all sound like they were done by completely different bands. They must have changed the lineup around between albums. Rumba Baby Rumba and Que Siga La Musica are both really good, but this album was kind of boring. Matt

Nice Rough Sound, July 24, 2008
This review is from: Salsa Galactica (Audio CD)
This is the only Latin music CD in my collection, so I can't claim to be an expert. What drew me to this CD originally was it's somewhat rough edges. The songs are not overproduced as is often the case. It sounds like a recording done "live" and for the most part is very peppy toe-tapping music. The lead singer often stretches his voice past a comfortable point, but that is also what makes the CD sound so lively. The horn section totally rules on tracks like Dilongo; the rhythm section sounds like it came straight out of Santana. The CD gets a bit bogged down on tracks like Molienda Caf, so this isn't perfection by any stretch.
