5.0 out of 5 stars A mU-Ziq deli tray, with every flavor of cuts., April 15, 2002
By "maxheaddrone" (Charlotte, N.C. United States) - See all my reviews
This is my favorite of all the mu-ziq albums, but I do not think it's the only one you should hear. This album is a view of many sides of the man, but built more like a showcase sampler (the Slazenger track being one heavy crux). The other guy is right in that most of the sample bytes above don't do the songs any justice because these songs are huge layers of a sound collage that indeed build to the point of full on [rear] shakin.
I think 'Reflectiv' is the high point for me, based around an 80's sample (Lionel Ritchie, I think), the contrast when the beat drops is beautiful. The title track is definitely some classic mu-ziq lo-fi, sample-drop, bass bell romp, and both versions of 'Balsa Lightning' are a perfect contrast between the two personas of this man Paradinas.
Buy this after 'In Pine Effect' and 'Lunatic Harness' have been thoroughly delved into, those are pure nonstop mu-ziq albums. I have to hear 'Lunatic Harness' from begining to end when I listen to it, I never just want to hear one song off of it. Its a complete masterpiece in my mind as well, but when I crave some mu-ziq beats in a dash,I grab some "salsa" and throw some hashbrowns in the frypan (we cookin baby).Always Satisfies!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is just derranged, April 3, 2000
By Lawrence J. Rafalko Jr. (Montclair, NJ United States) - See all my reviews

This was my first Mu-Ziq experience. I heard it at a party and had to find out what it was. The title track is the most insane and unique pieces of music that I have ever heard. This is not techo, not even really electronica. A must have for Mu-ziq or Apex Twin fans. Listen to the sound sample of the first track, I don't think it really does the song justice. The title track is 7 minutes long and a slow build. But the sound sample is necessary, because his music is hard to describe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Repetitive Hard Tweek Muzak, February 23, 1999
By Matt Wright (mickey@psyber.com) (The Hills of California) - See all my reviews
My favorite Mu-Ziq CD probably and that's saying something cuz I like him a lot. This CD is great because it's uniquely creative as well as bumpin. Mu-Ziq knows how to build up a mix until it seems too good to be real. This CD is a whole different style from Lunatic Harness which was all drilly and shrill (but still good). This CD is more harsh yet at times more melodic at the same time.

I really love this ep - it was my initial introduction to the wild and wonderful music that is Mu-ziq. No, thankfully this is no cheezball "techno-salsa" album! Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Tatar with mayonnaise
2 1/2

With exceptions in its short second half, this is a melodically weak, amateurishly programmed entry for electronic pioneer Paradinas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not What I was Expecting
I was not familiar with the artist before buying this album. Had I been, I'm not sure that I would have purchased it. I was expecting techno salsa. What I got was just weird. Read more
