5.0 out of 5 stars Another World Of Disco!, February 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Salsoul Classics 20th (Audio CD)
This collection along with the "Salsoul Classics 2" is very essential to all disco fans that want something different than mainstream artists like Donna Summer, The Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor...

If you bought "The Disco Box" and/or "The Disco Years, Vol. 1-7", then you will like this collection. Salsoul was just as important to the Disco era as those artists. First Choice, Instant Funk, Double Exposure, and of course The Salsoul Orchestra (which had friendly competition with MFSB and Love Unlimited Orchestra) were talented artists that helped spawn disco. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest songs in Salsoul history, January 15, 2004
This review is from: Salsoul Classics 20th (Audio CD)
Without question the greatest selection of music from the
Disco era and one unforgettable record company.
There is not one day that goes by that I am humming
in my head " My love is free' by Double Exposure.
Loleatta's hits "Hit and run", " Love Sensation" and " Dreamin".
" Doctor Love" and " Double Cross" by First Choice.
The music of 2000 and up will never reach the status of classic.
These are songs that will transcend time and I will never stop
dancing to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chronic Disco Classics.............., November 29, 2002
This review is from: Salsoul Classics 20th (Audio CD)
This a great CD to purchase. This CD is packed with jammin disco classics. Many people try to diss disco, but many don't know or understand how DEEP First Choice or Loletta Holloway really are. There are plenty of disco classic on this CD. First Choice & Loletta both got alot of radio play on Chicago's WBMX 102.7 in the 80's.

Now this is one hell of an album. If disco and dancing was ever your thing, then this compiliation is absolutly mandatory
It seems like every song is a N.Y club scene classic. The only thing missing was the disco ball!

I was a kid growing up in New York City when Salsoul was on the scene in the 1970's. Listening to the Salsoul sound brings back so many great memories. Washington D.C. Is not really into the House music scene like New York and New Jersey.

Again, Thanks for the Memories!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Disco Sucks? Then this is NOT disco., November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Salsoul Classics 20th (Audio CD)
Well some people just refuse to even try to listen to disco. But this Salsoul and Prelude label stuff is just too damn good stuff to ignore. I like hip hop, R&B too but certain disco is iresistable. This is one of those.

This CD has songs/groups that off-hand, "disco fans" may not immediately recognize....that is, until you hear the particular songs, and then your jaw drops and you are like "oh...My....GOD!!!!" If you were like me back in the day, and you were too young to go to the discos, but not too young to appreciate the music and listen and dance to it in the privacy of your bedroom (on your radio/casette player boombox), then you will LOVE this CD!

Some of the best dance music of the 1970's was produced by Vincent Montana, his Salsoul Orchestra, and Salsoul Records. For some strange reason, Salsoul hits were left out of Rhino's "The Disco Years" and other disco compilations. "The Original Salsoul Classics" makes up for this grievous defect by collecting some of the best of the best of Salsoul Records, not only hits by the Salsoul Orchestra but also by the First Choice, Loleatta Hollway, Bataan, Ripple, Instant Funk and many others. The only thing I regret is the absence of Charo's "Dance a Little Bit Closer" and the Salsoul Orchestra's own "Tangerine," but hopefully these will appear in future compilations.
