4.0 out of 5 stars Good for a gift, better for yourself! October 9, 2010
By J Paige
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book as a gift along with a salt grinder. Serendipitously, my own salt grinder broke and I decided to keep it for myself, along with the book and find another gift instead. This book is lovely. It is short, but sweet and I made five of the recipes for just one dinner party that was a huge success! My favorite so far is the black Hawaiian salted breadsticks, yum! Most of the recipes are fairly straightforward, nothing too challenging, but they have the fun twist of using so many different types of salt and really coming from different regions and culinary traditions. I am also a big fan of photos and this book does not disappoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Salty Goodness July 23, 2010
Format:Hardcover
If you love to cook, and love salt just as much, then this book is made for you. The pictures are lovely and the recipes are amazing - focusing on salt, but also other salty treasures like olives. A must-have for the salt connoisseur in your life.

Nice history on the various salts and some nice recipes. This pairs well with a sea salt sampler, that way you are a better informed cook.

I was somewhat disappointed with this small volume that did not contain enough recipes that explored some of the use of the more easily available and common sea salts. Read more
