4.0 out of 5 stars "Okay now here's the deal, Pep bust it..."
You HAVE to had grown up during the era of this album to TRULY appreciate it. I used to carry my radio around EVERYWHERE and play this TAPE, yes I said TAPE, ALL the time!! Salt n Pepa are true pioneers in the rap game that was, back then, dominated by men. With this being their sophomore album, it stil stands strong even today. Maybe it's just me being nostalgic and all,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Follow-Up.....But Could Have Been Better
Salt N Pepa's sophomore album does not generate as much buzz as their sizzling debut. True, the tracks "Shake Your Thing" and "Get Up Everybody" made the Top 20, but the rest of the album is a flop, mainly because it lacks good lyrics and has poor producing status.

5.0 out of 5 stars Other raters don't have a clue, February 25, 2002

I mean not counting the tracks that got air play, there are a number of good tracks that make this a worhty album. Tracks 4 & 10 display each ladies gift for mcing Spin does her thing on trackk 8. Then there's Tracks 9 and 12 come on people, actually listen to the music, don't just hear it. So that's six tracks. Now days you may find two on most peoples' albums. You throw any one of these songs on at a party and I guarantee more than half the crowd will " Get Up " (the other half will be bobbing their heads to the beat.)C'mon people get with it !

5.0 out of 5 stars I used to love me some Salt....., September 21, 2006

Salt n Pepa came hard on their second release back "88". The undisputed first female sex symbols of rap repped hard with tracks like Syncopated Soul Power (Salt's Solo), Everybody Getup and Let's Get Paid(Pepa's Solo).
Shake your thang was also hot(Which could have been called Doin the Butt Part II).

4.0 out of 5 stars Very old school, timeless vintage rap, January 28, 2006

I know I know, comparing this trio with modern day rappers is like comparing apples to watermelons, But these ladies was so real with their stuff you cant put a candle to them. I feel that salt n peppa had the market when it came to rap as a female trio and yes most of their songs everyone could listen to without having to chase little kids out of the room! if you have the old LPs of this little gem, it is worth some money......

5.0 out of 5 stars Here is another old school hit, October 21, 2004
This review is from: Salt With a Deadly Pepa (Audio CD)
This SNP album is hot. I liked when I first listened to it. I think I was in the 5 or 6th grade. If you want some old school to listen to, this is a must have. Hits like "Get Up" and "Solo Power (Get Paid)" are most memorable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic, December 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Salt With a Deadly Pepa (Audio CD)
One of the earliest offerings from Salt'n'Pepa, this album Is an excellent sampling of both the raw and the polished power that made this trio a '90s hip-hop powerhouse, contributing to the crossover of rap and hip-hop into mainstream culture. Because this particular album is early in their recording career, what i would consider an '80s standard, it has a lot more rap styling that their '90s albums and is the album that first proved their ability to deliver hits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kickin', May 19, 1998

The women of S&P come into their own on this CD, with Spinderella becoming a full-fledged member. Her "Spinderella's Not A Fella" is white-hot, and the group beats of "Shake Your Thang" became an MTV classic of hip-hop. Another S&P&S must-have!
