Out of date and out of touch,
By Jason Kirkfield "The Pride and Sorrow of chil... (Purple Mountains Majesty) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Salt Lake City/Denver Top Restaurants (Zagat Survey: Salt Lake City/Rocky Mountain) (Paperback)
I congratulate Tim and Nina on finding the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg. Let people spend their own time and money eating in restaurants and writing what they think, then publish it. Brilliant!Obviously the Zagats just take bits and pieces of what people send in. So a sentence in a Zagat Survey could be cobbled together from ten or twelve contributors. To me, that's not helpful, nor does it give me an idea of how my evening at the restaurant might go. I would rather have ONE representative review from someone who can tell me not only about their dinner, but also about the server who brought it, the hostess who seated them, and the valet or taxi line out front. Still, people seem to enjoy the pithy (some would say snide) remarks. The Denver/SLC edition has not been updated since 2002. In previous years it had been known as the Rocky Mountain Survey. There must not be much of a market here. Either that or I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed. Plenty of places listed are now out of business, so it isn't even worth getting a cheap used copy. |
