Other than a few flaws, not bad...,

I had to upgrade my video card drivers and DirectX inorder to make the game from crashing (causing a total restart of my computer).Once you get it working, the game is pretty fun, very realistic. It features 6 Olympic Events: Men's alpine skiing downhill The events are fun and you have 4 different playing modes... Olympic Mode (play for medals, if you play all events, you get to watch a opening/closing ceremony), tournament mode (night time tournament 4 round elimination), Classic- the conditions/difficulty gets harder round-by-round. Freeform- lets you restart events, a practice, you set time of day, weather/visibilty. The graphics are nice, i say it's worth the $$$ (...)

Try It If You Think You'll Like It,
This review is from: Salt Lake 2002 (CD-ROM)
I am clearly part of the target audience for this game having just attended the Olympics and having frequently skied the snowsliding venues. As such, I am predisposed to like this game and not surprisingly I did. I spend most of my time on the mens downhill portion of the game and I think it is a pretty fair and fun simulation. The skiers animations don't often look realistic but OK. The controls for it work pretty well considering you simply can't turn on a dime at 70 mph. Moreover, the difficulty of the game increases a lot if you play the higher levels and the course comes closer to matching the actual course. I have a hard time believing people complaining that the game is too easy if they are playing harder levels. The other portions of the game are also pretty good with the bobsled and the slalom being my next favorites. The slalom is peculiar in that you can miss a gate and the game simply brings you back to that point. The ariels have simply been frustrating. Overall, I am happy with my purchase but it clearly could be better. One thing they did almost perfectly was the matching the banners and logos of the games. If you are a winter sports enthusist and you suspect you will like the game, you probably will.

Good Graphics, Limited Play,
By Marcus C Burrell (Sylva, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Salt Lake 2002 (CD-ROM)
If you're looking for a simple game with good graphics, here's where you need to stop looking. If you're looking for a good Olympics game, get Sydney 2000 instead. I was very disappointed with the small number of playable events in this game (only 6 events), yet the event they include are very enjoyable. If you definitely want this game, wait a while until the price goes down. It's not worth the $(...) you're going to pay for it right now.
