5.0 out of 5 stars The earlier the better, May 24, 2008
Bruce Cockburn is an enigmatic artist with a lot to say and a unique perspective on the world around us. In his later releases, there is a tendency to experiment with styles that may leave some listeners behind and may even alienate long-time fans. But, here in his earlier releases are complete albums of melodious and thought-provoking songs delivered in simple, straightforward manners. Truly acoustic and with Cockburn's reassuring vocals, the early albums are testaments to the utterly absorbing quality of his music. These early releases are also filled with a peaceful approach and perspective that make a sit-down listen take on a re-energizing aspect, or can underscore a day's activities with calm. Cockburn's guitar work is tremendously exciting and this album includes one of his all-time best songs - All the Diamonds in the World.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bruce's Lost Masterpiece, October 17, 2005

Salt, Sun and Time is a wonderful cd that the average Bruce Cockburn fan may be tempted to overlook. It is a soft and beautiful acoustic offering - mostly Bruce and his guitar. There are 3 instrumental songs and 6 other tracks with gentle music and exquisite lyrics. This is the flip side of the "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" and "Call It Democracy" Bruce. Most Bruce fans wouldn't think of this as one of their favorites, but I think it would manage to make its way into my favorite half dozen Bruce cd's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Salt, Sun and Time, April 8, 2000

If you're into commercial or main stream music, this is probably not the album for you. Cockburn's genious at guitar and musical expression comes through clear and powerful. The pieces also express his love of nature and selfless, uncomplicated living. There is no business or ratings agenda here, just pure creativity. A timeless album that will remain one of my favourites.
