punk is where genuine rock really lives, October 5, 2001
This review is from: Saltbox (Audio CD)
There is no reason rock like this shouldn't be on mainstream radio, except for the fact that people's taste generally [stinks], and they prefer ... pop rock .... Too real to be hyped as "grrl", Red Aunts play straightforward moderately hook-y American Rock-N-Roll with a tinge of honkey-tonked jangle angle.
The lyrics are often quite funny. If you like X, you'll probably like this, if you don't like X, you don't really like rock. Nice clean-enough production on this one. The tempos vary within a pop-punk fast to middlin' range, counterpointed by slow drawlly sections. Doesn't fall into the obnoxious pop-punk pitfall of sangs that are all bridge either.
