4.0 out of 5 stars Great scale for the price
I am a Bodybuilder, Bodysculptor, Personal Trainer, and I love to cook! I use the scale to measure out portions of foods for insuring I am eating right to lose fat and gain muscle in my training program. I also use the scale for measuring when just cooking for fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I bought this scale to go on my kitchen counter for when I pack and freeze meat. When the order came I read the instructions on zero'ing the dial. When I turned the knob on the back to adjust the scale and the needle barely moved. So I turned it back the other way and the needle did NOT move. When trying to adjust it again I found that the knob was turning independently...

The scale is not flimsy. The dial is easy to read and easy to zero out.

I have the white plastic finish version which I bought from Amazon.

The scale body sits inside the tray when stored and is about 4" wide x 7" long x 2" high when stored this way.

Easy to clean, easy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality exceeds the price, February 16, 2008

Other reviewers have said some bad things about this scale, but I have used $100 scales in restaurant work that will wear out in a few weeks. I think that the quality of this product reaches far beyond the $9.99 that I paid for it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to keep an eye on portions.

Featuring a 10-year warranty, this scale is great for cooks of all abilities. It has great calibration markings and the dishwasher-safe bowl stores the scale for a minimal footprint in the cabinet. I like that it's fully manual, as many digital tools don't seem as durable or easy to clean. A nice complement to any cook's arsenal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good scale, skip the plastic bowl, November 15, 2009

I purchased this bowl to help me measure the amount of food I was consuming (especially foods like pasta which are high in calories). I found this scale to be highly sufficient for my needs, although the bowl was a tad difficult to clean, clinging to every sauce or gravy like a drunk to a bottle of vodka. Instead, I switched from the bowl to a small plastic plate to put my food on. Since you can adjust the base scale setting, it was a perfect solution, and much easier to clean.

Eventually, any person should be able to learn portion control, but if you are just starting out with weight loss/management, or if you REALLY need to know whether you're eating five or six ounces of chicken, then this works.

I bought this scale to go on my kitchen counter for when I pack and freeze meat. When the order came I read the instructions on zero'ing the dial. When I turned the knob on the back to adjust the scale and the needle barely moved. So I turned it back the other way and the needle did NOT move. When trying to adjust it again I found that the knob was turning independently of the screw. At that point the knob was all the way down on the scale and NOW the knob and screw are turning as one...the scale still won't adjust and the part where you put the bowl is so tight that the scale wouldn't measure accurately ANYWAY. Compared to some of the equipment I use at my daily job this is not rocket science, this is just junk.

This scale has been really useful, I managed before without any, but once I bought this, it has been in almost daily use. It's functional and easy to use and clean, measurement in both kg and lbs has been especially handy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke after a several months, September 6, 2007

At first I thought this was a great product for a great price, but today it broke. It was well cared for, but used several times a week. Even though it was only $10, I still expect it to last longer than four or five months. I've tried everything to fix it, but the hand is simply broken and floats between a few pounds. Time for a new one, but I guess I'll spend a bit more and hope for better results!

5 stars for very high quality, great looks, and even better price. Very nice "old fashioned quality" piece of hardware.

1.0 out of 5 stars Scale Sucks!, April 18, 2009
Scale broke after 2 months! When weighing heavier items, scale seems like it might tip. Scale is hard to read do to curving of the plexiglass. Scale weighs up to 11LBS but the bowl will only hold 3.8LBS of water. Since scale only works with original bowl, it seems the scale was not well thought out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy, January 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I keep this handy little scale in the kitchen because we often buy meats in large packages or pieces and divide them ourselves. The scale gives me an accurate weight for the sections--much better than eyeballing them!

Its portability is a plus because I also take it out to the barn to weigh individual servings of horse feed.

The dial is easy to read, the weight reset dial easy to reach and the design is attractive enough to leave this sitting on the kitchen counter.
