This scale is great in the kitchen. I own a bakery and needed something to weigh small amounts of ingredients. Works out great for us every time. I'd definitely recommend it. And you can't beat the price.

This is a great scale for weighing packages to mail. You can even put a large box on it and still read the meter. Accurate readings insure the right postage - love it! (Also goes down to ounces for smaller mail.)

this scale is made out of cheap plastic, not chrome. it's also not accurate at all, nevermind legal for trade or any kind of business.

Salter. Old English company. Maybe, but this scale is chrome plated plastic (the tray is metal) and it comes from China. Since it's traveled some 6 thousand miles it's no surprise the zero adjustment knob fell off (it won't zero with the know rattling around in the box!). I was able to re-assemble and eventually to make it operational. If you read the writeup on this scale you get the idea that it is solid, metal, quality. Not so. In fairness, I must say that once assembled it did weigh accurately. I tried 1 lb, 2.5 lb. and 8.5 lb weights and all were spot on. I'll keep it but I'm not real happy with it.

Searching for a nice mechanical kitchen scale, I ordered this one based on all the good reviews. I can only imagine that the reviews and the product were mixed up because this was a cheap, and cheap-looking, piece of junk. I could not even get the scale to set to zero properly. Don't waste your time with this one.

I use this scale for weighing packages and it does its job very well. It's a very attractive scale and can compliment many home decors. The big numbers make it easy to read. The tray can come off if you just want to place the item on the flat base surface, just make sure to calibrate the scale (which is very easy to do, too). I use this to weigh packages so that I can calculate shipping costs, pay online and print the shipping labels so that all I need to do is drop the packages off at the post office. Shipping online through USPS is cheaper than the post office price, its convenient so I just drop the package off at the post office and magic happens, and then I have automatic package tracking which is always nice. The Internet is amazing.

I did think the scale seemed smaller and lighter than what I expected when I first received it, but that has come to not be a problem at all. I like it, it serves its purpose very well, and it's a great value for such a pretty, high-capacity scale.

I needed a little bigger than usual kitchen scale. This one was inexpensive and works well for my canning needs. It's not terribly sturdy looking, but it is accurate (I compared weight with another, better scale) and it does the job. It is sturdier than it looks. I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a biggish but not huge scale in the kitchen.

The scale is easy to use and seems to be accurate to one ounce. I tested it against several weighed items I had bought at the grocery store and the weights matched exactly. I usually use it for cooking but did use it once to see if a relatively heavy letter was more than one ounce. The scale said it was exactly one ounce and turned out to be right. It is attractive enough to sit on the counter. The weighing tray just lifts off and is easy to wash. I recommend it if you want a simple scale and don't need accuracy to less than one ounce.

I was looking for something that was reasonably priced for my 4 yr. old and amlmost 2 yr. old to use for pretend play, e.g. market, post office, etc. I tried hard to get something that was not made in China but even vintage/used scales are very expensive and I just couldn't justify the cost. This arrived very quickly, was packaged without too much extra 'stuff' and it's done the job so far. If you plan to use it for something that you need a great deal of accuracy, I don't know that I can say it would be good for that. I'm frequently re-setting it to zero, but, in all fairness, that could be because it's getting quite a workout in our house! It is definitely a little 'chinzy' (if that's a word) and as one other reviewer mentioned, 'chrome' should be further explained because it really is just chrome colored plastic. Overall, it's a good scale for the price and it will serve our needs, but I wouldn't rely on it for food measurements, etc. Also, mine looks slightly different that in the photo: the picture shows the face being angled and ours is not, but it's still a nice looking scale.
