This is such a clever little thing, and you really can't beat it for the price. Salter makes quality products that they really stand by. It may not be as fancy as the stainless steel, glass-topped electronic models, but you'll never worry about your battery dying. When they say "they don't make 'em like they used to," this is the kind of thing they are talking about. Easy to use, set and fill. It is all plastic, very light, hard to damage, and versatile. The pour lip is also very helpful.

Cons: It weighs a max of about 5lbs and is not the most accurate scale to read (the red weight line is somewhat behind the number scale and, depending on which eye you're looking with, it can change an oz or two). It makes me a little nervous not to be fanatically precise about my measurements, but then, I honestly have never had a recipe go wrong with this little guy.

It's also not the most stylish piece of equipment, but when counter space is at a premium, its good to know that the scale fits inside and bowl for easy storage.

I love these scales! They're easy to use, and have the benefit of having both imperial and metric measurements. Also, the jug is microwave and dishwasher safe, virtually indestructible, and can be used for a multitude of other tasks, such as making porridge or sauces in the microwave, mixing ingredients, etc. I also use mine to collect juice from my juicer.

The scales also take up very little storage space as when not in use, the jug will sit upside down on the scales, to serve as a cover.

This handy scale takes the guesswork out of ingredient weights in the kitchen. I particularly like the movable measuring ring; it allows the setting of tare weight instantly and makes weighing the subsequent additions a snap.

I have a small kitchen so I can't afford kitchen items that are seldom used but take up space. Recently I got some cookbooks from the UK and they have quite a few measurements by weight, making a scale necessary. This scale was inexpensive, had good reviews, and seemed like a low risk purchase. In fact, I am very pleased. It's lightweight, easily stored on a high shelf, and accurate enough for normal cooking and baking purposes. (Probably not enough for weighing out grams of saffron or the like.)

This scale is simple to use, was inexpensive, and I have found that I use the handled bowl all the time as a mixing/pouring bowl - a bonus! I would definitely recommend it!

I thought I wanted a digital till I read some reviews about how inaccurate they can be. I finally decided simple is probably best for me. The measurement window slides around the base so you can set the jug on top and slide the measurement scale to "zero" so that the additional weight of your product is all that is weighed. I didn't quite get it when I read the description, but once I got it home, ahhHHHHhhh.. easy. This works perfectly fine for me and my purposes.

This thing is great. It does a much better job than similarly priced kitchen scales from stores. It doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of counter space and is accurate enough for my uses, so overall I'm very happy with it. Granted it's not pin-point accurate like digital scales, but it's not meant to be. I use it for measuring food amounts in order to calculate their nutritional value and it works perfectly for that.

The only drawback I can mention is the placement of the weight readout. It's along the bottom facing outwards, as pictured, and this means you have to bend over and position yourself sort of carefully in order to center your eyes over the red tally mark. A better design would have been to put the readout flat on the bottom facing up like in this more expensive Salter scale: Salter #800 9 Pound Mechanical Aquatronic Kitchen Scale for Dry or Liquid Measuring I personally didn't care enough to justify spending twice as much for a scale, and after using it for a couple months remain happy with my decision.

This is the best kitchen scale I've ever had. I use it to weigh mail and packages and just about anything that isn't over 5 lbs, including one of my dogs!

I just started a worm compost bin and I was looking for an inexpensive kitchen scale to weigh the kitchen scraps I would be feeding the worms. This is absolutely perfect. I placed it near my sink and can store my kitchen waste in the jug. Then when I feed the worms, I can simply note the weight from the scale and empty the jug. It is reasonably accurate, VERY handy and a fantastic price. AND I received it ahead of schedule! Perfect!
