Salter Nutri-Weigh and Go Nutritional Scale

I bought this scale after reading about it in "O," Oprah Winfrey's magazine. It is a good, reliable scale with a calorie and nutrition computer that can help you keep track of your daily calorie and food group intake.

It is not, however, purse size. The scale is no smaller and lighter than the Salter food scale that I use at home. It folds up, and has a nice little carrying sack, but is tote-bag rather than small-bag size and weighs about the same as my home scale. Also, my on-line diet program is easier to use than the Salter computer and, not surprisingly, also includes more foods and features.

While I will definitely take the "Nutri-Weigh and Go" with me when I travel, it is not going to travel with me on my daily commute to and from the office. I carry too much "stuff" with me already, and the "Weigh and Go" is just not portable enough to make the cut. (Hint: use the office postal scale to weigh your food; the mail room clerks will laugh at you, but it works.)

We've used this scale many times a day for a year and a half, since our daughter was diagnosed with diabetes. It's easy to use, and we love that it has a database that you access by typing in the food name rather than a code (which many other scales use). My only complaints are that a few of the carb factors in the database seem to be off (we've learned through experience which few those are, and just don't use them - there are only 2 or 3), and it doesn't always register weights of 1-3 grams - seems to need slightly more weight to count it. Otherwise, though, we love it. It's small and lightweight, making it easy to stick in a tote bag or backpack when we go out, and the fact that it folds up means that the scale and screen are protected if it gets bumped around a little in transit. Highly, highly recommend this scale!

We were loaned this product by a friend and really liked it - which is why we purchased our own. Wife is a diabetic on a pump and must accurately input carbohydrate content of her meals. This makes it easy and accurate.

Easy to use, very informative about foods. One quirk

the on/off doesn't seem to function that well and seems

to stick when you are trying correct an entry. Otherwise

a great help in the kitchen or on the road.

Compact. Intuitive. Accurate. Hard to read display out of direct light. Hinge same height as weighing platform which limits size of item being weighted. Searching for food is a slow process.

I love this little scale. It makes it very easy to know exactly how much you are eating of something, down to the gram. It also tells you the nutritional data of common foods. If I measure an apple, I can input the type of apple and it will tell me the complete nutritional content, based on weight, of the apple. Its small and handy and could probably fit in my purse.

My daughter was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I bought this scale at the advice of her nutritionist. My daughter is on a carb counting diet so I am please for the most part with this scale. It has been helpful when I am not quite sure about the amount of carbs a particular serving has. It does not list some of the more common items, for example: whole wheat bagel, as well as some other items I would have thought to be pretty common.

I am still working with this scale, and find the information very helpfull. I use it iften and think its been a real asset to me and figuring in particular my carbohydrate amounts.

This little scale is light weight, compact, easy to use and so convenient. I must say the price is a good bargain, too. Though I haven't used it alot, I will be using it on the truck going across country so the small light weight design is perfect for my needs.
