When I used this for the 1st (and only) time, I found it noisyand slow. The pitcher doesn't fit snugly into the well, and when youremove it, instead of turning off the flow of tea (as advertised), it makes it flow heavier (which ends up in a mess). When I tried to clean it I found that a difficult task because the filter cup has ridges from edge to center, every inch all the way around. The reservoir got tea in it, and it's so narrow, you can't get in there with a sponge to clean it. When I tried to rise it out, tea flowed out from somewhere, and went all over the place (if I hadn't tipped it, the tea would have dried inside and ended up moldy). Don't waste your money like I did. Boil water, that's all this does. END

I bought this iced tea maker because a friend had a similar model from a different manufacturer. Thinking they were all similar I bought this one. I was wrong. This machine uses a spring-mounted lever that activates the flow of brewed tea into the pitcher, once the pitcher is placed in it's proper place. No matter how I placed the pitcher (even exactly as the manual instructs), the spring-mounted lever would open the valve only halfway (or not at all), leading the pot to fill with hot tea that spilled out of the top and flooded my kitchen. After two months of this, I threw it out. This product's design is simply flawed. I think the idea of iced tea makers is great, but this execution of it, with the spring-mounted lever valve, simply does not work. Look into another brand if you are thinking of purchasing an iced tea maker.

If you are an iced tea addict too, then look no further. It does indeed require a fair amount of ice-- but let's think about why. TEA requires HOT WATER to brew. You want your tea to be iced. So you have two choices: you can brew it hot, stick it in the fridge, and wait about five days until it reaches the right temperature. OR, you can use ice. This machine proportions it all PERFECTLY. ''Weak tea'' only happens when you don't use enough teabags. I get the best results with 5 or 6 regular teabags. It takes 5-10 minutes to brew a full pitcher, which is then ready to drink right away, nice and chilled. The reason this only gets 4 stars out of 5 is because cleaning it takes a little effort. (Ridges in basked, as mentioned before.) But you don't have to do that too often. BTW, a surprisingly great tea is the decaf "Ambience" blend from... of all places... Smart & Final! This makes a PERFECT iced tea. We go through a pitcher or two a day in the summer. And for the price, it can't be beat! What else are you going to do-- use a coffeemaker? The stove? Forget it! Load up the Salton, push a button, and you're on your way.

A friend had this ice tea maker a good six years ago. I found one like it under another brand name in a discount store, and after three years, it's still making the best ice tea around! Found this one on Amazon, new brand name, but same ice tea maker. Seven Luzzaine Tea bags, 3/4 cup of Splenda and you've got the best brewed ice tea around. Easy to clean, take the filters out and throw them and the carafe in the dishwasher! I just ordered FIVE for Christmas presents!

I just love this iced tea maker. I still can't believe I only paid $11.99 for it.It makes perfect tea in under 10 minutes. It runs quietly and makes no more noise than a coffee maker does. It makes enough tea for 1 or 2 people for 1 day. It's just a great little appliance to add to your kitchen, no more no less.

This brews tea as it describes. It's not noisy, it's not difficult to clean (by hand, not dishwasher safe - as stated in the manual), and it's does stop dripping when you remove the pitcher (you must wait for at least two cups to brew before you remove pitcher, as the manual states). As stated by someone else, it is a bit small, but then again, I only make iced tea for me. To make a gallon I need to brew two batches, which I then pour into a gallon jug and fill with water. Overall I'd have to say it is a very good value. I would recommend it.

Replaced the Mr Iced Tea (2 qt and 3 qt) that had leaked all over the counter with this tea maker. The advantages are:1. Can make coffee in it too. 2. This two quart pitcher is perfect for one to two persons. 3. You can pour with the pitcher not dribbling down to the bottom and all over the counter. A couple of drawbacks are: 1. Parts are not dishwasher safe (so hand wash only). 2. If the lid is not put on the pitcher, the water fills the steeping basket and overflows into the water hold chamber (so that is good AND bad). Meaning you have to figure out how to pour the tea out of the water chamber and then clean it really good for the next pitcher. (Yes, I learned that from experience) 3. At the end of the brew cycle it does seem quite noisy (compared to the Mr Iced Tea maker). Overall, I am well pleased with this tea maker.

I've never written a review before, but I had to write one for this. I've had this tea maker for about three years, and I've never had one problem with it. No leaks, perfect tea (you choose how many tea bags to use based upon how strong you want the tea), the carafe is easy to store in the fridge, it comes out like new every time after being put thru the dishwasher, and no cracked carafe. It's a full pitcher of tea that lasts me all day, even with two kids sharing sips of it with me. I bought my parents a different, more expensive tea maker, and they've had no end of problems with it. I'm buying them this one as a replacement.

Like several other reviewers noted on the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker, the pitcher cracked after a couple years use. Since the replacement pitcher was the same price as this, I decided to try it. It is small, but perfect for 1-2 people. It was not noisy and made perfect tea in about 10 minutes, maybe less time. The only drawback is it does not permit strenght adjustment, so I only gave it four stars. For the price, it's a great deal!

Pros and Cons of this Purchase,

This review is from: Salton KM44WHT 2-Liter Iced Tea Maker, White (Kitchen)
It is small and compact I like the design and features that's why I purchased it as a gift. It is a little smaller than I prefer actually and the overflow problem was very messy I was going to send it back or throw it agains a wall then the spring popped out. Now it works no overflow problem it fits better into the basem so if you have this and are having the problems listed in the reviews and like a smaller compact teapot this one works great once you remove that spring. Or it pops out whichever comes first.
