5.0 out of 5 stars My Very First Breadmaker!!
HH gave this to me for Christmas because he knew I've been wanting one for so long and I've baked 3 loaves so far (lots of ingredients to buy)! It takes about 3 hours to cook a fully developed loaf and almost 1 1/2 hours for rapid. Homemade bread is so delicious! 2.0 out of 5 stars 2 bread pans in less than 2 years
Purchased in Jan 2007, my second bread pan just failed, the gasket or rivets started leaking. I called and they said a replacement is not available...GRRR!!!!

I have greatly enjoyed this model, it was my first. Easy to use and consistent results. I make 2 - 2lb loaves a week of a whole wheat bread.

I going to limp along with it until I can save...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Very First Breadmaker!!, January 6, 2007
HH gave this to me for Christmas because he knew I've been wanting one for so long and I've baked 3 loaves so far (lots of ingredients to buy)! It takes about 3 hours to cook a fully developed loaf and almost 1 1/2 hours for rapid. Homemade bread is so delicious! You basically add the ingredients in order (yeast always last), press the settings, the breadman kneads and bakes, press stop, eject, and enjoy!

I barely have to clean the pan because it is nonstick! Love it love it love it!

I would suggest if you want to begin baking right away to look for bread machine recipes online so that you can have your ingredients ready once you purchase.

**Update**
I've had this since Christmas and it has been working fine. I'm still satisfied with it. Do note that my bread comes out better and more developed with Rapid Rise Yeast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it to knead but not bake, May 23, 2005
By
This review is from: Deluxe Breadmaker (Kitchen)
I've found that the bread baked in it has a thick crust, even on the light setting. That's not a big deal though, I prefer to us it on the kneading cycle, then I remove the bread to bake in the oven, 350 degrees for 15 to 25 minutes (depending on size and shape) and I get a perfect loaf every time. This summer I also plan to test out the jam making cycle. I truely recommend this for others that just can't knead a loaf of bread right on their own.

Suggested use, Cinnamon Bread:
Use the Brioche (Rich white bread recipe) that is in the book on knead only, at the end of the cycle, on a floured surface, roll it out into a rectangle the width of your bread pan. Sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture (ratio is to taste), roll like a jelly roll and place in greased bread pan seam side down. Allow to rise in a warm place for between 1/2 hour to 1 hour until doubled in size. Brush top with milk and sprinkle with a little sugar. Bake at 350 until golden and has a hollow sound when tapped. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful toy!, November 1, 2004

I love this bread machine! I make a ton of bread with it. Mixes and different recipes and everything comes out perfectly. My co-workers espically love it. Clean up is the easiest, and it's not huge so storage is not really an issue. It takes you about 5 minutes of your time to make a wonderful fresh loaf of bread! I just love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars makes beautiful spelt bread, too!, December 31, 2006
This review is from: Deluxe Breadmaker (Kitchen)
As a wheat-intolerant family, I've tried baking by hand with the alternative flours with dismal results. However, I got this yesterday, made one loaf of bread from a bread machine recipe in my wheat-free cookbook and it tasted rather good. I made another loaf this afternoon from the second recipe in that cookbook and it was fantastic. The texture, crumb, moisture, taste, everything was excellent, there was no "dry, sawdust" taste or texture to the bread like you usually get with spelt, and I'm one happy camper. The crust on "light" setting is crispy but not overly so. I think if you want soft crust, you'll have to bake in the oven. Or store the loaf with a slice of apple in something airtight to soften it, maybe. I don't mind a crispy crust myself, besides, the loaf is just large enough that you can cut the crust off and still have a good sized slice for sandwiches. (Save the crusts for the birdfeeder, or for bread pudding.)

Not sure what the reviewer below meant about loud noise during the mixing, my machine's mixing is rather quiet, doesn't bother me a bit. The control panel is easy to figure out, the bread pan is easy to clean, the whole unit is fairly light-weight, and don't discount how nifty the viewing window is. I LOVE being able to peek in and see what it's doing. Just don't touch it or put anything on it while cooking, it gets hot.

But if you need to bake with alternative flours, this breadmachine can handle it! With this model, if you're using wheat, kamut, or other alternative flours, mix all recipe ingredients in a bowl until just moist, then spoon into bread machine. Non-wheat flours are just too heavy to mix properly in the machine without a little help first. I found this to be a fairly simple undertaking and the results are definitely worth the extra 5-10 minutes prep time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoy this item, works well, and affordable, get the job done, September 25, 2006

I asked for this item about 2 years ago for christmas, and I have been happy with it since. Not an expensive model, this Item has worked really well for me. I bake on average 2 loves per month, so I am not a heavy user of the machine. But, As a guy in the kitchen, this thing is simple. Works really well with the boxed mixes, just follow the directions on the box. I have started in the past few months making my own bread from scratch using the recipies supplied in the owner's manual, as well as from the small bonus book of recipies. This thing is simple. This machine is great for a casual user like me, and a good value as compared to some of the other models available. It also simple to use. If you have a family to bake for, maybe a more expensive model would be better, but I am hard pressed to think that this machine could not handle that as well. 5 stars in my book, my model is the TR555LC, which is what is pictured on this listing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine, July 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Deluxe Breadmaker (Kitchen)
I registered for this breadmaker as a wedding present a little hesitantly after reading the reviews. I have found it to be a wonderful machine. It is simple to use and easy to clean. I was a bit skeptical about the little paddle in the center and thought that it might leave stuff in the corners (it doesn't). I have had no trouble with the bread rising and have made loaves from mixes and by following the recipes in the book. I have been trying the wheat bread recipes that came with the machine and find them a little disappointing taste-wise, but that has nothing to do with the machine itself. One note from this greenhorn, the delayed timer should be set for the time you want the bread to be done, not the time you want the machine to start baking!

5.0 out of 5 stars Breadmaking is actually easy., January 13, 2008
I am still amazed at how long we dwelt in the desert of crappy bread. We are not baker types and don't have loads of time. A family member suggested we try one after we complained about the terrible bread in the supermarkets with lots of added sugar and little fiber. This is our first breadmaking device and we are definitely in love. So far not a bad loaf. We've had it a week and a half. We are waking up to perfectly made bread with lots of fiber and flavor and the crusts are far better than I had imagined they would be with a machine! The Breadman is easy to use. It's forgiving of mistakes and it makes pasta and pizza dough. Great entry level machine. I think going forward we would like a horizontal baker but we'll use this one till it gives out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic breadmaker, March 31, 2008
By
I have had this bread maker for at least 3 years now and it's still going strong. I don't use it everyday but when I do, it's mostly used for making dough.

I make my own cinnamon rolls and yeast rolls so the dough setting is excellent because it does all of my kneading for me. All I have to do is dump the dough out and roll it out for by cinnamon rolls (or form the dough for the yeast rolls). It's an excellent workhorse even when working with the heavy, thick doughs.

It's really durable too. I've learned that you might want to put a non skid pad or dish towel underneath it because the agitating action when it's kneading makes the machine move. Mine actually walked itself right off the countertop to my horror, but kept right on mixing. When I picked it up it was completely fine and has worked just fine ever since. (That was a year ago.)

I've known people who have purchased this and used it every single day to keep fresh bread in the house. The rate that I use it (roughly once a week) this machine should be just fine years and years from now.
