A perfect single,

`Saltwater' was the best trance song of 1999 and is one of the best trance songs of all time. Much has been written about the song and most of you are familiar with it so all I'll say here is that it is a perfect song...it almost brings me to tears each time I hear it. The song has been available for quite a while, but only as an import single and most recently on Chicane's new album. It is finally being released as a domestic single along with two other great songs. Up first is the original version, with vocals by Maire Brennan (from Clannad). Also included is the Tomski vs Disco Citizens Remix. This is a harder, faster mix of the song. `Don't Give Up' (featuring Bryan Adams) was released a few months ago and is included here with two new mixes. The Peter Rauhofer Roxy Anthem has his usual tribal sound but keeps the trance feel of the original. The Johnny Vicious Club Mix has the progressive New York sound Johnny Vicious is known for. Both turn up the energy level from the original. `Chicane's End Of Summer Remix' of `Autumn Tactics' closes the disc. There is also a Thrillseekers remix of this track...keep an eye out for it. There was an import single of this song released not too long ago. This is a mellow, ambient song and this chilled mix fits it perfectly. It starts with a soft Latin sound with the acoustic guitar featured strongly. As the track progresses, it turns more trancey with beautiful vocals. This is a perfect single. It combines the last three import released single by Chicane onto one CD...they don't get any better than this.

Great club/trance tune,
This review is from: Saltwater [US CD/12"] (Audio CD)
This CD single has 2 mixes of 'Saltwater', 2 of "Don'tGive Up", and 1 of "Autumn Tactics".... The first two tracks were not available in the US previously, and were not on the import single. Marie's voice is impeccable, and the music is vintage Chicane - trance, with a nice beat to it. The Peter Rauhofer (Club 69) and Johnny Vicious mixes of "Don't Give Up" pack more energy than the original Chicane mixes on the single, and are fantastic. "Autumn Tactics" is OK - and that's it. Overall, this is a must buy single.

5 tracks on this CD but was bought for "Saltwater". Danced many nights to this tune but never knew the name. Saw the video and looked it up here on Amazon. B I N G O How a person can float with a beat is beyond me. This is pure EURO TRANCE! The vocals will stay with you and the limited breaks will bring you back for more.

Bliss towards the future....! In a few words to describe this cd is, that it sends us all into a state of bliss, and elation. The hauntingly beautiful vocals on the original version brings shivers all over, with such melodic riffs. The only drawback which I thought were, that two remixes were absent on the US version, the "Mothership Mix"of Saltwater, and the "Thrillseekers Remix" of Autumn Tactics which I've heard a sound sample, and in my opinion stands out the most...All in all, the remixes of Don't Give Up, are very powerful and melodic. The "Peter Rauhofer Roxy Anthem" has a more hard house, feel, and the "Johnny Vicous Club Mix" is more towards hard trance, and progressive house...

I heard this song for the first time when I was in Ireland. My boyfriend at the time brought over a old CD and popped it in, being from the states we DONT get the kind of music as over there. The end of the CD had Saltwater on it, I was laying on my bed and immediatly flipped when I heard it. I asked him a thousand questions at once about the song, he started laughing and said it was two years old and it was very popular over in Ireland, I made him play it so many times he got mad!! the song makes me want to cry its soooo pretty, I just wish I could understand the words!

Chicane's "Saltwater" in my opinion is the best trance song of all time. I first heard this song in 1999 on Ministry of Sounds Clubbers Guide to Ibiza or something like that. The combination of Marie Brennans Voice and Chicanes breakdowns and build ups will bring tears to your eye's. If there is one song that could ever move someone it is this track. GET IT!

I got this single originaly for the 'Saltwater' track which was great (and still is), but as things progressed, there were 2 other songs in this as well on this single, Don't give up & Autumn Tactics. I immediately fell in love with 'Autumn Tactics' (the Chicane's End of Summer Remix) which is a B' side to this cd single. It made me dust off those old 'out of body experience' books purchased here at amazon.com and made me enter the Astral realm. This cd single can be found in my dvd or cd player a couple times a week. For maximum efficiency I had to get 2 copies just incase 1 got lost (I didn't want to panic). Also get the 12" vinyl single (liked that as well), unlike the cd single it has the 'Autumn Tactics' thrillseekers remix as a b side. 'Saltwater' taste very good.
