Energizer,
By I didn't realize that I've had an iron deficiency for most of my life until I came across a Floradix Iron + Herbs pamphlet. According to this pamphlet, you may have an iron deficiency if you have one or more of the following: the lines on the palm of your hands are the same color as the surrounding skin (they should be darker), you have white nail beds (I always think of the movie, "Mean Girls" ("My nail beds suck") whenever I think of nail beds), pale skin, low energy, and/or become easily winded. I had all of the above. Previously, I had attributed my low energy to the side effects of medication. In fact, one of my former roommates always thought it was very funny when I praised someone for having a lot of energy, as though that were the pinnacle of human accomplishment. It wasn't "he's handsome, she's a computer wiz, he plays the piano beautifully" that ranked highest in my book; it was the person with the highest (focused) energy levels whom I envied and admired the most. A few years ago after having supplemented with Floradix for many months, I visited my sister, and she couldn't get over the change in my energy levels. Instead of my usual sluggishness, I was active, and unprompted, I pitched in with household chores and whatever else needed to be done (I'm embarrassed to admit that while I'd help out here and there whenever I visited my sister, I mostly slept during my down time). She couldn't believe that the only change I had made was iron supplementation (as I already exercised regularly and ate reasonably healthy). I have always been fair-skinned and had attributed my extreme pallor to being ginger-haired. I was always offended when people told me I looked "sickly" because of my pale skin. However, my skin tone has much more color (at least relatively speaking) since supplentation, to the point where friends who hadn't seen me in awhile thought I had started frequenting tanning salons (believe me, with two parents who've had skin cancer scares, I'd be crazy to ever go tanning). My one caveat is that this product is expensive. A local natural health food market occasionally offers free samples of Floradix, and I 'fess up to hoarding them, especially as I have two friends who work in the vitamin department who are willing to set these samples aside for me. This iron supplement shouldn't create toxicity if used as directed (apparently, this form of iron--ferrous gluconate--has a biofeedback mechanism that will take in iron as needed and excrete surplus iron). It isn't constipating, and I'd recommend it for pregnant and menstruating women for that reason alone. As far as getting your iron levels checked (which I'd recommend before supplementing), Floradix distinguishes between tests that can analyze your circulating iron levels versus tests that can determine your stored iron levels. If you have an iron deficiency, it may remain under the radar, depending on the type of iron test administered.

I am a mother of 5 including triplets and my Energy has come back!,
My name is Yvonne Torres and I am a mother of 5 children including 6 year old triplets and a terrible but cute 2 year old. I had become very sickly and constanly tired for over a year. The stresses of life were really taking a toll. I had been diagnosed with Irritable Bowl Syndrome, which in my case meant I could go 5-7 days without being able to go to the bathroom. I had gone to the Doctor last November to have a physical and tests done. They told me everything was within normal range. I continued to be very weak and tired for 11 months. I finally went back to the Doctor for another physical. I was sobbing as I told my Doctor how tired and stressed I felt. I told her I thought I was anemic but that my previous physical had shown I was within normal range. She looked at my charts and said that that was incorrect! My iron levels were severely low, (7.8). She said she didn't know how I was functioning. I was told at a 7 they want you to get a blood transfusion. Well my doctor said to start taking iron but I was afraid that the pills would only complicate my IBS. Luckily a friend recomended the Floradix. I have been taking it for 5 weeks now and I feel so much better. My IBS symtoms are completely gone. I have a bowel movement every day sometimes twice a day. That really helps to take stress and irritability away. I don't know what exactly in the Floradix it is that has made the difference but I feel so grateful to have my health back. I ran a Marathon (26.2 miles) last September before I had become so weak and tired, what I didn't know is that I was depleting all my vitamin stores and should have been taking supplements like floradix and other multi-vitamins. Yesterday I ran 6 miles without stopping or feeling like I was going to pass out. I hadn't run more than 3 miles in over 6 months and that was with lots of walking and rest in between the running. It is amazing how important a part iron plays in our energy levels and our overall health and well being and I would recomend Floradix to anyone stuggling with anemia.
