Good mattress but smells a bit,

Our toddler has been using this mattress for several months, and he seems very comfortable on it. It's not too firm, and not too soft. It seems to be well constructed. My only complaint is that it smells a fair bit, ever since we took it out of the package. It's most likely the organic wool in the mattress that smells, shall we say, earthy. I even phoned the company to ask if it was a return and he assured me that it's never been used before. I would still buy it again, since we want to stay aware from chemicals such as fire retardants, that are put in conventional mattresses. You will definitely want to purchase a waterproof cover for it as well. We just purchased an organic latex bed for ourselves, from the Natural Mattress Store in San Rafael, CA. We love it and it has no smell at all. I'm sure they sell crib size as well.
