This is a very affectionate tribute to a songwriter who probably
produced more quality than quantity. He only wrote five musicals but they were all winners. A lot of his best music was for Hollywood. The arrangements are very sophisticated but the songs come across very well. They are performed by Loesser's wife, the excellent Jo Sullivan, and his daughter, who is almost as good. Every track is a winner. For the price of a song, you'll get 50 minutes of pure pleasure and nostalgia. |
