Wow! I can't believe that nobody has reviewed this album yet. Here goes,
Enzo Avitabile is from south-italy (from Naples to be precise) and is a known figure in world music, more for jazz fusion. In the past he also contributed with James Brown and Tina Turner. This time he is going deep into his roots, "Bottari", its traditional rhythm from south Italy that is now limited to few places only. It involves the (wine) barrels, wooden drums, etc. Taking the Bottari culture, Enzo experimented with Jazz (sax, trumpets, etc) and created an amazing piece of music. Highly Energetic. This CD truly defines the sound of world music and cross culture experiments. I saw them live in Dublin, St Patrick's Festival, and am truly stunned by the performance. Its a must for the fan of world music fans, get it, you won't be disappointed. |
