Book Description

September 8, 2006
Salvia Divinorum is a powerful shamanic plant medicine traditionally used by Mexican Curranderos (folk healers) for healing, divination and exploration of consciousness. In this book we take an in depth, insightful, and provocative look at this ancient plant and its newly discovered properties. For millennia, the secrets of this rare plant have been closely guarded by Mazatec shamans high in the mountains of Mexico. Rumored to have magical healing properties, this plant and its extracts have recently been introduced to the western market place.

1.0 out of 5 stars less than satisfying, July 23, 2008
By
This review is from: Salvia Divinorum: Shamanic Plant Medicine (Hardcover)
This author has basically taken information available anywhere on the web and from other books and released it as his own. This is the same guy who sells the lame 'Herbal Ecstasy' product, sheesh!
Stick with the Martin Ball book if you want to read something other than a compilation of other peoples research.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book!, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Salvia Divinorum: Shamanic Plant Medicine (Hardcover)
I think David Arnson sounds sort of bitter he didn't come up with the idea for herbal ecstasy. Just because this author has compiled information available elsewhere as well as contributing new information, doesn't mean the quality of the book is any less. As an editor and writer myself, I can tell you it's not easy to pull pieces of information from various places and compile it in an interesting and compelling way, but that is exactly what Cheyene does here. Great book, I learned a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent job, May 24, 2009
This review is from: Salvia Divinorum: Shamanic Plant Medicine (Hardcover)
This book does an excellent job of succinctly covering the history of Salvia divinorum up to the new millennium, pulling together the various aspects of ethnobotany, pharmacology, cultivation, chemistry, and contemporary use, into one place for the first time. I highly recommend this to everyone and anyone! Well written and compiled by a respected and knowledgeable author.
