There should DEFINITELY be a sequel to this gem. Vol.1 indicates there were at least supposed to be others to follow. I'm STILL waiting!

Part Chandler, Part Kurosawa, Part Miller, all brilliance.,

This review is from: Sam Noir Samurai Detective (vol. 1) (Paperback)
This book is great fun, whether you're a comics aficionado, a film-noir junkie, a fan of samurai flicks, or a bit of all three. The titular hero has a distinctive, tongue-in-cheek voice that effortlessly carries the story; the writing is peppered with wry asides and witty one-liners that add humor to the dark tale of revenge and manipulation. The art is also fantastic, done in a shadow-heavy style which is vaguely reminiscent of Frank Miller's "Sin City".
This one comes highly recommended for anyone with an interest in the above-mentioned genres, or for anyone who's looking for a comic that's not just the same-old same-old. "Sam Noir: Samurai Detective" is fresh, it's fun, and it'll pull you in. |
