Vajrayâna Buddhism in the Postmodern World,
By SBS (Northern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Samdhong Rinpoche Uncompromising Truth for a Compromised World: Tibetan Buddhism and Today's World (Paperback)
These dialogues with Samdhong Rinpoche will provide substantial support to spiritual seekers as they challenge the very assumptions that are crucial to the current era. In fact he makes it clear that the crisis of the post-modern world is no longer isolated in the West alone; it has become a global issue of paramount concern to all peoples. Samdhong Rinpoche's message is one of a primordial tradition that has only become available to those outside the Tibetan community relatively recently and is, it goes without saying, a tremendous blessing to the world. Yet it should be remembered that the disarray of this traditional civilization also came at a tremendous price for the Tibetan people and the world at large to pay in order to make this enlightened wisdom accessible. Perhaps this is the price that all individuals living in the present epoch ought to pay--to live in a troubled and broken world.

A world vision acknowledging modern social pressures.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Samdhong Rinpoche Uncompromising Truth for a Compromised World: Tibetan Buddhism and Today's World (Paperback)
Donovan Roebert edits SAMDHONG RINPOCHE: UNCOMPROMISING TRUTH FOR A COMPROMISED WORLD, a treatise linking Tibetan Buddhist principles with concerns of the modern world. Rinpoche is the first elected prime minister of the Tibetan government in exile and has long contributed scholarly and spiritual thoughts to the world: he's professor whose convictions are solidly based on Buddhism - and his blend of reflection, experience, and self-insight pair well with a world vision acknowledging modern social pressures.
