Book Description

June 13, 2006
Nakagawa and Yokota are two boys very much in love with each other. Yokota is more open with his feelings, but Nakagawa is easily embarrassed of public displays of affection. Though they may be outwardly different, their feelings for each other are the same - their connection is such that they liken themselves to Do-Seibutu (Same-Cell Organisms).

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In this yaoi manga, two male classmates, good friends, inspire each other to be more than they would be separately. As they come to depend on each other, they find themselves falling in love. The figures have verve, looking as grumpy and apathetic and enthusiastic and pleased with themselves as teenagers can. Their eyes are especially alive, which contributes greatly to giving the reader a sense of their personalities. As the two face important life decisions—such as where to go to college or whether to move in together—they ponder just how much they mean to each other. The various chapters stand alone, with some involving other characters in the same situation. They're reminiscent of poems or songs written to the object of one's affection. One weaves together the high jump, a secret meeting place, the desire to fly and an early end to the relationship imposed from outside. Another deals with the problems of loving an angel. The characters are more well-rounded than is typical of yaoi, with complex interior lives that revolve around more than just their compulsions for each other, making for a realistic portrayal of young love. 5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely collection of shounen-ai stories., July 13, 2006
This review is from: Same Cell Organism (Yaoi) (Paperback)
Enjoy all 4 stories in this collection and this mangaka's graceful artwork is simply gorgeous.

The first story of the same title leaves me warm and fuzzy, eventhough the 2 boys do nothing obvious other than hugging, cuddling and kissing (and they do it very well! grin...)
The second story, "A letter in the attic" is my favorite. This tender and touching short story brought a tear to my eyes with its unexpected sadness.
The third story on the love between a human (a boy with long hair but he does not look feminine) and an angel is unique and her beautiful drawings of the angels with their wings is something to behold.
The last story is comically sweet.

This is a wonderful collection of shounen-ai stories. Do not miss this even if you are just into Yaoi.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making everyone a little happier..., August 28, 2006
This review is from: Same Cell Organism (Yaoi) (Paperback)
I had never heard of this author before (whom, it seems, writes under several names) but I fell in love with this anthology of short stories and am now a huge fan. The artwork is gorgeous and the storytelling wonderful.
This manga is not, as the cover implies, yaoi. It is Shounen-ai, with only a few kisses, but shounen-ai at it's best. The first story is about two friends who fall in love and it's incredibly heart-warming.
The next story is very bittersweet, but great and there are several more stories.
Overall, this book won't change your life, but it will make it a little bit brighter.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful BL, July 4, 2006
By
Katsu (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Same Cell Organism (Yaoi) (Paperback)
The reason I first picked up Same Cell Organism was because of its wonderful art. It's not a carbon copy of the same style you see in a lot BL/yaoi manga. It's very clean and very cute.

The stories themselves follow suit; they're all very cute and sweet, a few of them even bittersweet and a tad bit sad. But I personally enjoyed them all (there are seven chapters and four seperate stories).

This manga isn't graphic yaoi, just BL (Boy's Love). So if you're looking for something graphic and more on the smutty side, remove one star from this review. If you're a fan of BL though, pick up this manga. It's well worth the money.
