4.0 out of 5 stars The best thing to come out of Sweden since ABBA!
"Same Old Tunes" (originally released as 'Tiny Tunes') is an impressive debut album from one of the best skate/punk/ska bands around, Sweden's millencolin! Right from the start you know what you're in for with "Mr. Clean", an pumping straight forward melodic punk tune, with a wondeful play on the english language in their lyrics, loads of energy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK
Pennybridge Pioneers was the first Millencolin album I bought and I absolutely loved everything about it. The next album I bought was Same Old Tunes. I didn't think it could even compare to Pennybridge. I almost lost faith in Millencolin because of it. The reason why I gave it three stars was because I'm sure those of you who like more of a ska sound instead of a punk...

"Same Old Tunes" (originally released as 'Tiny Tunes') is an impressive debut album from one of the best skate/punk/ska bands around, Sweden's millencolin! Right from the start you know what you're in for with "Mr. Clean", an pumping straight forward melodic punk tune, with a wondeful play on the english language in their lyrics, loads of energy and an over-riding feel-good factor.

This energy is carried through the rest of the album and millencolin prove they can pull off some convincing ska tracks such as "Fazil's Friend" and the excellent "Da Strike", all about the band's love for bowling, and which also has a cool saxophone solo!

If you like their later albums, or want to hear a different, refreshing, european approach to SoCal punk, I would definitely reccomend getting this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars great punk/ska cd, August 4, 2002

I have had this cd for about 3 years and i listen to it everyday. i have downloaded every song on it to my computer so i can listen to it on the computer. the first millencolin cd i bought was for monkeys. i got this one next and i loved it. all of the songs are so catchy that you never want to stop listening to it. i have heard all the millencolin cds and this is my favorite. if you have never heard millencolin, then this cd would be a great thing to buy first. if tou are just browsing through somewhere and happen to come across this cd you should buy it. if you are just a hardcore punk rocker that hates reggae and ska, you should still buy this cd because the othere songs will make you love millencolin. in most punk bands the guitarists play pretty easy songs. (i play guitar) but in millencolin. the 2 guitarists are both the best i have ever heard in a punk band. the songs they play are reaslly hard to play. proof? my guitar teacher couldnt play most of their songs. overall the combination of punk and ska make the best album ever made. if you have never bought a punk cd then this is the one to buy.

The reason why I gave it three stars was because I'm sure those of you who like more of a ska sound instead of a punk sound will like it better. I just bought For Monkeys and I felt that was alot better than Same Old Tunes and just under the quality of Pennybridge Pioneers. For Monkeys is making me look forward to buying Life on a Plate.

All the tracks on this album are well above average with the best being; Mr. Clean, Diznee Time, Frazils Friend, Da Strike and The Einstein Crew. If you like any of Millencolin's later albums, chances are you'll like "Same Old Tunes" as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Punk Album Of All Time, March 29, 2001

Yes i am serious, this is the album that shaped my future as a punk listener. I first got a taste of the swedish punkers in 1993 on a bodyboard video that was released in Australia, it featured Disney Time and Take It Or Leave It, and from there i was hooked. It wasn't until early 95' that another video was brought out with Einstein Crew on it, that put me into action, i went straight out and bought it. My life hasn't been the same since. Millencolin have released several good follow up albums, all were good but none had anything on the original. They slowly got more polished but, the impact and overall influence it had on me will never be surpassed. They are all good songs, it starts with a song that everyone knows and loves, Mr. Clean. Disney Time and Dance Craze follow the same good style. Da Strike could pull any person out of a bad mood, House Of Blend is lyrically brilliant and Leona another punk anthem. But real joy comes with the last two songs, which i think are Millencolin's best Einstein Crew and Take It Or Leave It. If you are a true punker, you must have this cd, even if there new found popularity has put you off them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Life On A Plate, January 19, 2000
This review is from: Same Old Tunes (Audio CD)
I thought Life On A Plate was an awesome album, but this one is way better. I like the fact that on Same Old Tunes Millencolin throws in a lot more ska. Their ska-punk with swedish accented vocals makes this album an awesome buy. Fans of Life On A plate will not be disapointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album from the Millencolin collection., November 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Same Old Tunes (Audio CD)
This is the greatest softcore punk album known to man. It combines a range of fast tunes with some slow ones to have a SKANK to. Highlight songs of this album are "Mr Clean," "Leona," and "Dance Craze." This album is perfect for anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, but short, October 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Same Old Tunes (Audio CD)
Even though it is a short album, (31:24), it pumps on some great punk/ska/skate music. Einstien Crew, Mystic Reptile, and Mr. Clean rock with great tunes and lyrics. The other songs are great, too. Check out some of Ten Foot Pole's stuff, too. It has the same poppy punk style if you are into it.
