I bought this CD mostly on a lark for a friend who thinks Stefanie Powers is the epitome of class and charm--both in her roles and in real life. I admire her as well, but I didn't know what to expect from her as a singer. I hadn't realized her dancing, singing background, until this. What a fabulous surprise! And I wonder why my local "Great American Songbook" radio station isn't giving this air-play!
The pluses: Great music and lyrics, spectacular piano and bass, clarity of sound that puts the listener right next to the stage in an intimate nightclub, beautiful phrasing and perfect pitch--even in spots where others tend to slide up to a note. That aspect of her singing reminded me of the Sinatra approach--absolutely accurate on every note. "Ten Cents A Dance," while a great song and performed wonderfully, prevents the CD from being one that keeps the soft torch mood throughout; the CD liner notes didn't do justice to Ms. Powers in that the quotes from others tended to be somewhat offhand about her singing; there wasn't enough background material on the Ms. Powers, although I did like the details about the songs. Small quibbles that certainly don't effect the sound of the music. There are a number of cabaret-type singers recording now--many of them working like crazy to sound sultry. Ms. Powers doesn't sound sultry in that commercial sense--she sounds like a woman who has lived a passionate life without ever being sordid about it. The CD is a treat!

Not only is she a great actress and philanthropist but she has a a beautiful singing voice as well. I was privileged to see her perform in Applause in Baltimore. She was absolutely fabulous. Any fan of jazz, blues, or torch will love this cd.

"The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." can really sing, no joke! Very nice on ballads, but lets out with some Merman-y sass on "Ten Cents A Dance". (I think this may be the only version that isn't a self-pitying exercise in nervous breakdown!) A welcome addition to the cabaret genre & let's hope she keeps with it.

I fell in love with this one the moment I heard it. A record that transports you to another time and place. A time when music was a joy to listen to. The sound is crisp and clear. It reminds me of Doris Day. This album is a keeper. I can not wait for a follow up album.

This cd is perfect to chill out and unwind to, all you have to do is turn the lights down low, relax beside the fire and switch this cd on - the songs are timeless in quality and are fully complemented by Ms Powers smooth and relaxing voice. Can't wait to buy and listen to any follow up cd she may release.

...is the voice that envelopes you when the songs "He Was Too Good to Me" and "Where Are You" are playing. I was fortunate that a friend in L.A. decided to send me a musical holiday gift in the form of this splendid CD. This is a beautiful collection of musical gems from the 1930's that brings a sense of elegance to ones ears. It invokes warm memories of nights watching the black and white, classic jazz nightclub films. The other experience one imagines is one of Miss Powers shedding her "Mrs. Hart: super sleuth" pantsuits in favor of a slinky red dress, caressing the piano edge while she radiates sparkles in the spotlights. The music and the image together combine to secure "On The Same Page" as desired part of any music lover's library.

I was very surprised to learn of this recording, and had a chance to hear a few samples which led me to purchase it.
As a fan of Miss Powers from years of TV, who can forget Jennifer Hart of Hart To Hart? This cd shows a side of Stefanie Powers many have no clue of, she can sing! and does it quite well! Most of the tracks are standards and known by many , but Stefanie proves she can still give them a shine or two of her own. I am not saying this cd should have won a Grammy, but it is very good music, and will serve well in a romantic setting , or just taking time to relax and wind down after a long day. Stefanie Powers has many talents and this cd easily will please any fan of hers.

Stefanie Powers has always been a lady of class, both in her personal and professional lives. I had never heard her sing before and bought this CD because I've been a fan of hers for a long time. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good she sounded. There are so many "singers" out there today that can't hold a candle to Stefanie and the quality sound to her voice. The tracks are simple, yet elegant, and are a treat to listen to. Congrats to Stefanie for not only being a wonderful actress, but a good singer too.!
