From the Back Cover

The boundaries are not always clear where one life fits into another...

Nate moves into an apartment where she finds an unexpected extra—an abandoned desk holding pages of hidden email. Despite the murmurs of her conscience, she is pulled into the intimate and human fabric of Jana and Ethan's letters as they strive to reclaim their relationship and heal a tragic wound from the past—their loss of a child in a coercive adoption twenty years earlier.

With humor and poignant hope, Jana and Ethan rely on each other's words to bridge the distance and circumstances that separate them, while their lives begin a parallel course into unexpected change. Through their journey, Nate discovers a compelling answer to her own past, and learns how the heart reconciles the unkindness of fate—and that the boundaries are not always clear where one life fits into another.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing story..., July 17, 2005
This review is from: The Same Sun (Paperback)
I have never been so moved by a story as I was by this one. It is, without a doubt, incredibly real, intimate, and impossible to forget. Although the book decription is accurate and intriguing, it simply can't do justice to what lies among the pages of this story. The writing is sophisticated and truly beautiful. I've heard it has developed an almost cult-like following, perhaps due to some of the behind-the-scenes controversy in its creation. (Amazon's "new & used" link has autographed copies available.) I highly recommend visiting the author's website to find out more. Just type her name into any search engine. I promise this is one story that will stay with you forever!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Same Sun, April 12, 2005
This review is from: The Same Sun (Paperback)
Emma Merchant has a wonderful writing style; I loved the imagery and sensory descriptions. The characters seem genuine. I couln't help but feel the frustration each character was experiencing. But, the book also has a lighter side; there are witty passages that made me laugh. Beautifully written, and a pleasure to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read...., May 17, 2005
This review is from: The Same Sun (Paperback)
This story was so real to me---so much is conveyed through the letters. They are earnest, insightful, sometimes quirky, yet always reflecting the depth of the characters' conflicts and emotions. The hopes and worries of Jana, Ethan, and Nate are ones most of us can identify with. Their struggle becomes our own---their dreams are the same ones we hold onto and follow. I couldn't put it down. I can't stop thinking about it, and neither will you.
